Since 2016 Pokémon Go has been such a popular mobile game that it is a household name. Unfortunately, with popularity comes a large amount of cheaters alongside the fans.

Sure, some gamers have more fun when they "cheat" or essentially play the game outside of its intended parameters. This is mostly a problem because of how it compares to everyone playing legally when it comes to levels, gyms, and regional Pokémon captures.

Since the game was released people have been changing their locations on their phones in order to get the most bang for their buck out of Pokémon Go and while it may have been great while it lasted more than half a decade, Niantic is finally ready to crack down.

Check out the following social media post from Niantic, the company behind Pokémon Go.

In the press release, Niantic included the following statement to issue alongside their initial social media post, which was initially shared by GamesRadar+.

"Our last post was focused primarily on sharing a broad overview of the actions we had taken to punish accounts we found to be cheating in multiple Niantic games. Since then, we’ve invested in becoming better at observing cheating behaviors, and can now more reliably pinpoint these activities with higher speed and accuracy, preventing legitimate players from being punished incorrectly [and] punish [cheaters] on a consistent and ongoing basis, rather than in waves, as we have in the past."

Coming out of Deino Community Day weekend, the events will most likely be felt during this week and going forward. It might take Niantic some time to find a good balance of punishment for the cheating trainers in Pokémon Go, but they certainly seem determined.

What do you guys think? Have you abandoned Pokémon Go or are you worried you'll be booted for cheating? Be sure to share your thoughts in the usual spot!

"Across the planet, amazing creatures have been discovered..." Have you caught any of the Pokémon which are featured in this new Pokémon GO trailer?

Pokémon Go June Community Day is taking place tomorrow, Saturday, June 25th between 11 am and 5 pm local time.
