This year Pokémon is celebrating its 25th anniversary! As one would assume, they are going all out for the special milestone! Their first big announcement for the occasion was that the famous and well known pop superstar, Katy Perry would be the premier collaborator for the year-long campaign. Yesterday the official Pokémon YouTube channel released a new video announcing famous superstar Post Malone as one the main headlines in a virtual concert later this month. Checkout the video below along with Post Malones new virtual look!
The music campaign is titled P25, beyond that the Pokémon Company is teaming up with a lot of other big names for the 25th anniversary event. Including exclusive programs from Build-A-Bear Workshop, General Mills, Levi’s, McDonald’s and more. There will also be a lot of special 25th anniversary merch from well known licensees like Jazwares, Scholastic, Mattel, Funko, PowerA, and The Wand Company, with more to be announced later. There will also be special 25th anniversary themed collections of the Pokémon Trading Card Game later in 2021 for the fans of the card game, as well as anniversary products from Pokémon Center.
Katy Perry also had some remarks in regards to her participation as a collaborator for the event, "Pokémon has been a constant in my life from playing the original video games on my Game Boy, to trading Pokémon TCG cards at lunch, to the adventures of catching Pokémon on the street with Pokémon GO. I’ve even visited the Pokémon Café in Japan while on tour! It is an honor to be chosen to help celebrate a franchise that has given me so much joy in the last 25 years, and to be able to watch it evolve in the ways it’s provided that kind of electric joy for the kids in my life and around the world.”
Here is the official video from earlier this year that announced her collaboration with the event!
