Released, initially, as a one-shot in 2018, the series takes place in the Bleach universe and follows the main characters who work in the Western Branch of the Soul Society. Following the one-shot release in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump, the series later released this past August and ran for one volume.

With an anime adaption officially coming this October, a brand new trailer has begun streaming for the beautifully animated show. The trailer also features the show's theme song, "Blowing" by NiL, and shows some fantastic footage as well.

Historically 72% of all the deaths in London are related to dragons, fantastical beings invisible to the majority of the people.

 

While unknown to most, some people have been standing up to these dragons.

 

Only inhabitants of Reverse London who live in the hidden “reverse” side of London can see the dragons. Even then, only a selected few become qualified enough as witches or wizards to make direct contact with them.

 

The protagonists of the story are witch duo Noel Niihashi and Ninny Spangcole. They are protection agents for Wing Bind (WB), an organization for dragon conservation and management. Their mission is to protect and manage the dragons within London on behalf of the people.

One such manga that rides the line of fear and action is Gege Akutami's Jujutsu Kaisen. Released in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump, the series follows a young man who contains a creature called a Curse; now, the young man must learn sorcery and also work with his curse to help those that can't help themselves against these terrifying creatures.

Since the release of the manga, a new anime has been confirmed to be released at the beginning of October. The series will be streaming on the anime streaming service, Crunchyroll, meaning that people around the globe will enjoy the show! As the premiere gets closer and closer, the creators have released a brand new visual that features the main cast.

Hardship, regret, shame: the negative feelings that humans feel become Curses that lurk in our everyday lives. The Curses run rampant throughout the world, capable of leading people to terrible misfortune and even death. What's more, the Curses can only be exorcised by another Curse.

 

Itadori Yuji is a boy with tremendous physical strength, though he lives a completely ordinary high school life. One day, to save a friend who has been attacked by Curses, he eats the finger of the Double-Faced Specter, taking the Curse into his own soul. From then on, he shares one body with the Double-Faced Specter. Guided by the most powerful of sorcerers, Gojo Satoru, Itadori is admitted to the Tokyo Metropolitan Technical High School of Sorcery, an organization that fights the Curses... and thus begins the heroic tale of a boy who became a Curse to exorcise a Curse, a life from which he could never turn back.

As you can see, 39 of the 50 states have fully or partially reopened theaters.  The two biggest film markets in California and New York are absent from the list but the governors of both states have indicated that they will soon 

The 4K remaster previously screened in Japan on April 3 played on 36 IMAX screens, grossing ¥30.157 million ($282,000) thru May 2020.

As we previously covered back in July 2019, it seems a new anime adaptation of Akira is in the works, which will be more faithful to the manga.  There's been no updates on the project since its iniital announcement.  A Western, live-action adaptation has been in the works for years, with Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi most recently attached to helm the film.  The movie was dropped from WB's release schedule after Waititi chose to direct another Thor installment first before working on Akira.

Akira takes place in 2019. 31 years after being destroyed during World War 3, Tokyo (now ‘Neo-Tokyo’) has been rebuilt and is a thriving metropolis. Shotaro Kaneda is the leader of a biker gang. His friend Tetsuo is injured in an accident and taken to a top-secret government facility. He develops telekinetic powers but decides to use them for evil rather than good. He has the same powers as Akira, the force that destroyed Tokyo in 1988. It now appears that history will repeat itself.

Lupin III: The Secret of Twilight Gemini

Mafia don Dolune gives Lupin half of a diamond known as the Twilight: when the two halves are brought together, they form the key to a fabulous treasure. Lupin heads for Morocco to find the long-lost loot and is attacked by masked assassins, a whip-wielding transvestite, and the inevitable Inspector Zenigata and his inept Interpol henchmen.

Eiji Hoshimiya is an introverted high school student with a huge secret — he wished for the destruction of the world when he was younger. Fairies give certain people special powers called Orders. What Order Users can do with their power depends on their wishes. 10 years after the Great Destruction, Eiji struggles to come to terms with his immense power.

Hanasakeru Seishōnen

Fourteen-year-old Kajika Burnsworth, daughter of powerful industrialist Harry Burnsworth, has spent the first part of her life living on an island in the Caribbean with a snow leopard named Mustafa. She is finally sent off to school in Japan, but is called away to her father's home in New York very soon after. While there, Kajika gets talked into the "marriage game" by her father. In this game, she has to meet and choose a possible future husband out of three males that her father has supposedly handpicked. He does not, however, tell her details regarding their identities and leaves it to Kajika to discover the bachelors on her own. According to the rules, if she picks one of the three men, Harry will tell Kajika her true destiny. Her childhood friend, Lee-Leng Fang, is charged with helping her on her mission while protecting her as her guardian.

Dancouga - Super Beast Machine God

Deep in outer space, the emperor Muge plots his next conquest - an out-of-the-way planet known as Earth. Mustering all the forces of his own personal Empire of Death, the Emperor is by far the most formidable foe humans have ever faced. And now he's even more fearsome thanks to the defection of Shapiro Keats, a power-hungry Earthling reborn as an Empire informer. A Thousand and One Nights

A Thousand and One Nights is a 1969 adult Japanese anime feature film directed by Eiichi Yamamoto (conceived by Osamu Tezuka) which gives the classic tales of Aladdin an erotic spin. The film is a first part of Mushi Production's Animerama, a series of films aimed at an adult audience.

The news is somewhat surprising as fans of the anime have had a long wait for season 2. The show was the darling of the Spring 2016 anime season when it premiered but it was a four year wait for season 2. However, (as evidenced by the rankings above) the Re:ZERO anime remains as popular as ever. Japan is also enamored with the isekai anime/manga genre at the moment and Re:ZERO is among the very best titles in that genre.

Here in the U.S., Re:ZERO is simulcast on Crunchyroll every Wednesday and has currently aired 10 episodes of a 25 episode run. Subaru is currently trapped on all sides by deadly witches, the Oousagi- one of the Three Great Demon Beasts and Elsa Granhiert the Bowel Hunter. Even with is Return by Death ability, a way to achieve total victory might be impossible.

A recent interview with Spanish animator  Maite Ruiz de Austri and Indhun Chonicles producer Pilar Blasco revealed that the "Spanish anime" was actually a collaborative effort from animation studios located in Barcelona, Valencia, Singapore, Los Angeles, Japan, Korea and Canada.

Touching on the anime's global production team, Blasco stated, "Netflix has a wonderful catalog of anime production, and I believe it’s the only global platform right now that clearly bets on anime, which is a rising genre in all countries, certainly Europe and Spanish-speaking countries. And the experience of working with Netflix as a partner has been wonderful. They’re respectful of how we do things and always available for discussion. From the beginning, they were so open when we proposed an anime adaptation of this IP. John Derderian gambled on us, but from minute one was 100% on board from Tokyo. We owe a great deal to him, to Takeo Takahasi, our Netflix production director in Japan, and to Arturo Díaz and Diego Avalos, our Netflix producers in Spain."

While the Idhún's Memories book saga is a Harry Potter-like phenomenon in Spain and a few other countries, it's relatively an unknown property abroad, especially in North America. As such, Netflix's anime will be the first exposure to Laura Gallego's award-winning creation. For that reason, it was decided to make the anime a television series instead of a film adaptation, so that as much of the source material as possible could be retained.

The day the three Suns and three Moons came together in alignment over Idhun, Ashran, the necromancer, seized power and the reign of the winged snakes started.

The recent DLC characters have included characters like the Vinsmoke gang and Charlotte Cracker and Smoothie, along with the recent announcement of X Drake, who will kick off the second character pack. So far, the newest DLC pack is looking to include some deadly characters from the series; however the latest may one may be the deadliest addition yet!

Killer is the newest character cutting his way into the title with a ton of devastating bladed moves and spins, one of which collects a large number of foes and splashes them into the ground like a wave! A new trailer recently dropped for him that shows off a lot of his wild moves and can be seen below!

Not long after the premiere of the anime, a manga adaption was released in the pages of Mag Garden's Mag Comi and the Line Manga service. The series has been written by Daichi Marui and retells the story of the anime in comic format.

Recently it was revealed on the manga's website that the series would be going on a hiatus for an undisclosed amount of time. The reason was confirmed to be because of Marui's poor health. Sadly nothing more was revealed about him or the title.

Makoto Edamura is supposedly Japan's greatest swindler. Together with his partner Kudo, they try to trick a Frenchman in Asakusa but unexpectedly get tricked instead. The Frenchman, whom they tried to swindle, turns out to be Laurent Thierry- a much higher-level 'confidence man,' in control of the mafias. Edamura is yet to find out what fate awaits him, after having engaged in the Frenchman's dirty jobs...!

However, through all of the tragedy and hardships, the studio persevered, something that would seem impossible given the circumstance. Now, thanks to their hard work and inability to give in, Violet Evergarden: The Movie is finally getting ready to premiere for audiences this fall! 

While the release is still a few days away, the creators decided to launch a brand new, full-length trailer for the film. The trailer showcases a ton of incredible footage and drives home the tone of the film.

The story revolves around Auto Memory Dolls: people initially employed by a scientist named Dr. Orland to assist his blind wife Mollie in writing her novels, and later hired by other people who needed their services. In the present time, the term refers to the industry of writing for others. The story follows Violet Evergarden's journey of reintegrating back into society after the war is over and her search for her life's purpose now that she is no longer a soldier in order to understand the last words her major, Gilbert, had told her: "I love you."

A teaser poster and trailer for the project have also been released which you can see below. A website for the film has also been launched, along with an official Twitter account. The official website for the film also contains interviews with the key staff for the film, including director Yasuhiro Yoshiura, who co-wrote the film with Ichiro Okouchi. Manga artist Kanna Kii supplied the original designs for the characters while Shuichi Shimamura serves as chief animator. 

Interest among North American fans is certainly high for this project with such an all-star staff. Keep it locked to Anime Mojo for future updates including word on whether the film will be released in North American theaters or jump straight to streaming on Funimation.

The film tells the story of a new transfer student interested in her surroundings, and the songs that bring happiness to her and her classmates.

This upcoming anime series was initially announced in March of last year, but it wasn't until this year that we finally got some news about the state of the project. Netflix just released released the first official trailer for Dragon's Dogma, and the production value of the show rivals that of Netflix's Castlevania; expected, but still exciting.

When it comes to animation in particular, Netflix is proactively delivering top quality products, and Dragon's Dogma doesn't look like it will be the exception. That first official trailer is solid proof of this, and we cannot wait to finally see what they have done with Capcom's intellectual property.

Just recently, and ahead of the long-awaited release next Thursday the 17th of September, Netflix has released the opening credits sequence to get fans even more excited for the series; no new footage is actually shown in the opening sequence, but it will hopefully make the waiting a little less painful.

Based on a world-famous action RPG set in an open world, Dragon’s Dogma from CAPCOM will be brought to life as a Netflix original anime series. The story follows a man’s journey seeking revenge on a dragon who stole his heart. On his way, the man is brought back to life as an ‘Arisen’. An action adventure about a man challenged by demons who represent the seven deadly sins of humans.

Dragon's Dogma will begin streaming, exclusively on Netflix, on Thursday the 17th of September.

The newest series follows Ash and Pikachu as they travel to a new region and meet a new trainer named Goh, who has a dream to capture all of the Pokémon in the world. The show follows the duo as they brave the dangers that come their way on their travels to capture and train as many Pokémon as they can.

Thankfully, fans will not have to wait any longer to see where these adventures lead them as the show has officially launched a fresh batch of episodes on Netflix! Starting today, fans can catch up with eleven new episodes of the fantastic show!

You can definitely expect to see more VIZ titles join Funimation's ranks in the coming months. VIZ currently owns the North American license for 121 anime films and TV series

VIZ is co-owned by Japanese anime and manga publishers Shueisha, Shogakukan and Shogakukan-Shueisha Productions (ShoPro). The company also has a distribution deal with Crunchyroll to release select titles on home video. Crucnhyroll recently announced a new distribution partnership with Sentai Filmworks but it's unclear if that deal was brokered to replace or supplement it's previous agreement with VIZ.

One of the biggest names leading the charge to make manga more accessible in the west is a new app called Mangamo. Containing titles such as Fire Force and Attack on Titan, Mangamo isn't playing any games when it comes to delivering the best content from Japan to its western audience.

Recently, we were able to sit down with co-founder Dallas Middaugh and ask him about some of the inner workings of the app, including the price point and prospects for the future, including western comics. With so much coming for the future of Mangamo, the possibilities are endless.

Literary Joe: I'm curious if you have any dream titles that you'd like to bring onto the subscription service that you don't have yet or any publishers that you want to partner with that you haven't yet?

Dallas Middaugh: Can I just say all of them and leave it at that? (Laughs) So, I'm going to just let you know up front that I'm more or less going to dodge the question now, but I'm going to give you an answer sort of. I could sit down and tell you all the publishers that we want to work with. All the publishers we've been talking to, et cetera, et cetera. But that actually is not information that I necessarily want to share publicly.

What I will say is this, there is so much manga published in Japan, and there's so much that doesn't make it to this market. There's just so much opportunity out there. So when I wear my business hat, I could tell you, and I'll just pick an obvious one, right? I mean, obviously, I would love to have Shueisha on the service. I would love to have the Shonen Jump titles, but they have their own service. So that's probably not going to happen anytime soon.

So when I look at it from a business perspective, of course, there are major publishers that I would just kill to have on the service. But when I look at it more from my artistic and manga fan perspective, you know, I'm so happy with the publishers that we have. We have all these amazing series. Some of them had anime that you might've heard of like Somali and the Forest Spirit or Arte or Dropkick on my Devil. You know others have no anime like Reset Game or Loving Yamada.

We always want to keep adding new publishers because it is our goal, and it is our mission to get as much manga out there in English, which is the easiest way to get it read by the most people as possible. So my dream list is every publisher.

The problem with that, of course, is that while we know there are, let's say four, maybe five major publishers in Japan, there are over 200 publishers that you would consider to be full-fledged publishers. And over 2000 entities publishing manga in Japan. So, it can be hard to actually go through and figure out exactly which ones you'd want to get first. Cause really, they're all doing amazing work.

Literary Joe: Before you became involved in the publishing world, were there any manga titles or anime titles that you were interested in back when you were younger?

Dallas Middaugh: Sure. But I'm really old. So we're talking about a very different time. I mean, I will never date myself. I came upon anime through the show Starblazers, which kind of pegs my age for you there, meaning that in the late seventies and early eighties, you know, I wasn't old enough to really understand this, but looking back on it, I think I was really taken in, not just by the art style, but also by the more serious subject matter. And the fact that it was a story told serially, that in fact, if I missed an episode of Starblazers, I was kind of hosed.

Cause you really had to catch each one. It was like reading a chapter of a book. And that was kind of how I imprinted on anime. You know, as far as manga goes, I've always been a comics fan pretty much from birth. And when I was in college, this was definitely far before the Pokemon days. Viz was releasing things with a company called Eclipse, and they did things like Mai the Psychic Girl and Crying Freeman. And again, I had a similar experience in my college years that I did when I was a kid of discovering this style of storytelling, and this method of storytelling that was just so radically different from everything else I had seen. And I was just infatuated with it.

But you know, the other story that I like to tell is that the thing that actually got me into manga publishing was, was Hayao Miyazaki's Natsujikai. When I went to interview at Viz, I was much younger, and I wasn't really sold on working for the company. I enjoyed the manga, but I wasn't like a mega fan. And the person I interviewed with we got along well, and he handed me a copy of the box set of Natsujikai and said, I think you'll really enjoy this.

And I went back and read it and was just so stunned. I mean, you know, it's such an amazing piece of work. And I was so stunned by how good it was that I literally went back and said, okay, I want this job. I absolutely want to do this. And that was great because all of a sudden, you know, it wasn't like you could just go online and read this stuff easily. But we had a warehouse, and I was able to go into the warehouse and just pick stuff up and read it all the time. And I read almost everything Viz published over the couple of years that I worked there.

Literary Joe: So you keep bringing up comics. Do you have any Western-based graphic-novel type comics, or do you have any plans to try to bring any on the service? Or are you strictly focusing on Japanese manga?

Dallas Middaugh: It's a possibility for us, for sure. But anything that we would bring on that wasn't strictly Japanese manga would have to somehow feel manga-adjacent. So, the easiest example, bringing in Superman, wouldn't make any sense for us. Not that it's on the table, but that just would not make sense versus finding a publisher who is doing something that has more of a manga and anime influence, that could make sense for us.

But at the end of the day, the service is Mangamo; it's not Comicsmo, so our focus is always going to be on manga. The vast majority of what we offer is always going to be Japanese manga.

Literary Joe: How did you guys settle on the price point?

Dallas Middaugh: Well, you know, at the end of the day, there are so many factors there, right? Not least of which is, of course, you know, we know behind the scenes, what it costs to do all of this, and the cost is not insignificant in addition to the creation of the app itself and having full-time staff. We localize most of the series that we publish and paying for translation and layout.

It's not cheap, but having said that, you know, obviously, we can't just go in and charge $20 a month. You know, we can't just look at it and say, here's the number that would be great for us. We have to try to find that balance between what is going to enable us to run an effective business. What is going to ensure that adequate money is going back to the actual creators of the manga, but what can the market bear? And all I'm really trying to say is that all of those things were factors when we came up with the $4.99 price point.

Since the series has had a few weeks for fans to get an idea of what the show is like, it's time to shake up the foundation yet again by further exploring the extent of God powers. “The God of High School” is an action-packed series that follows a high schooler and his friends as they compete in an epic tournament, borrowing power directly from the gods and uncovering a mysterious organization along the way… With the promise of their heart’s deepest desires, motivating their tournament victory.

Initially, the film was meant to release in the summertime, but after a delay due to COVID-19, there was never an official release date that was set again, after its delay. The film has been highly anticipated since its announcement, and the wait was not an easy pill to swallow.

However, as things start to return to a degree of normalcy, in a world living in the pandemic era, a new trailer for the film proves that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. In the trailer, the movie confirms its release in Japan for the beginning of November, which is a great relief to those looking forward to it!

In Monster Strike THE MOVIE: Lucifer - Dawn of Despair, Strike World has been saved from disaster by the actions of Oragon and the 5 Heroes. But the world once again becomes a battlefield when Lucifer turns her blade on her former companions and plunges her fellow heroes into darkness and despair.

Could seasonal manga titles become a thing in the manga industry? Manga creators are known to work themselves into sometimes, physically debilitating injuries as they sit hunched over a drawing board, working for hours on end. This style has led to numerous delays in some fan favorite titles as their creators increase in age and become unable to keep up with the rigors of producing a new manga chapter, week after week.

Going the seasonal route will allow Tite Kubo to work at his own pace and not sacrifice on his artistic standards. Weekly Shonen Jump has contained individual chapters of Burn the Witch since the August 24 issue. The first volume (a collection of chapters-think trade paperback) of the series will be released on October 2, which is the same day that the Burn the Witch anime film from Studio Colorido will drop. Crunchyroll will be releasing the film in a 3-episode format.

BURN THE WITCH is a one-shot manga by Tite Kubo released in the July 16th, 2018 edition of Shonen Jump, detailing a day in the lives of two witches working for the Western Branch of Soul Society, located in Reverse London. It is the first work he has released since the last chapter of Bleach was released in Shonen Jump on August 22nd, 2016, and takes place in the same world as his previous work, set 12 years after the Quincy Blood War and 2 years after the events of chapter 686 (the final Bleach chapter). On August 24, 2020 Burn the Witch officially debuted in Weekly Shonen Jump as an ongoing manga series.

Instead of Hollows, the soul reapers rangers of Western Soul Society battle dragons, which are (like hollows) invisible to the average human. Dragons are actually something of a natural resource but they become very dangerous beasts when they come into contact with negative human emotions. These dark dragons also have the ability to take over human corpses to become even greater threats.

Published in 2018, Sazan & Comet Girl is a story created by Yuriko Akase and tells the story of a young man entirely captivated by a free-spirited space girl and the lengths he will go to see her again. While the series was a hit in Japan, it has been a bit harder to read in the west. 

However, all of that has changed thanks to Seven Seas Entertainment and the confirmation of a full-color omnibus that has officially released! Now fans will be able to experience the 500-page epic anywhere and everywhere! A physical copy won't be releasing for a few days, but with so much downtime in the world lately, now is the best time to take imaginations to the stars!

Sazan, a young man from Earth, works construction on other planets and has seen his share of galactic oddities. But when he meets Mina, a vivacious redhead who zooms into his life on a space scooter, he knows he’s run into someone special. Almost as suddenly as she arrived, Mina races out of Sazan’s life, yet Sazan is determined to find her again…no matter how far he must chase her across the galaxy.

Initially published in the pages of Shueisha's Grand Jump magazine in 2013, Yuya Kanzaki and Arata Miyatsuki's Impossibility Defense tells the story of a killer with the power to kill through suggestion. The problem is that no one can place him as the murderer even though he is found at the crime scenes! The manga has been a massive hit since its debut and has published 11 volumes so far while also spawning a live-action film in 2018!

Since the series has been out, the fan praise for it has never stopped and has seen it through to the end, which is a lot sooner than many would expect! According to the most recent compiled volume for the series, the 12th volume that will release next year will conclude the series.

The suspense manga centers on Tadashi Usobuki, a man who wears a black suit and is able to kill others through the power of suggestion and by warping their thoughts. Although Tadashi often appears at the scene of the crime of these unnatural deaths, no one is able to prosecute him because police can never find any proof.
