When Masashi Kishimoto released the series Naruto, in the pages of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump, no one could have expected the massively positive response that the series would receive. Following its success, it was later adapted into a long-running anime that evolved from Naruto into its continuation, Naruto: Shippuden. Once that story had concluded, fans thought Naruto's journey was over, but they couldn't have been more wrong.

With Naruto completed, Kishimoto created a new manga titled Samurai 8: The Tale of Hachimaru, which concluded earlier this year. While that series was being published, writer Ukyo Kodachi released a sequel series to Naruto titled Boruto: Naruto Next Generations.  Acting as a direct sequel, the book followed Naruto's son Boruto as he did his best to get out of his father's shadow and be the best ninja he can be.

Since the release, the manga has been a massive success, and an anime was even released to continue the story. However, it was recently announced via the franchise's official Twitter that Kodachi would no longer be writing the series. The tweet explained that with a new publishing schedule, scriptwriting duties would be based on Kishimoto's work, making him the new writer for the series. A rough translation of the Tweet can be read here- About the Boruto manga: Starting with Chapter 52 of Boruto, which is set to be published in the December issue of V Jump (on sale November 21), the production team will change as planned from the start. We would like to thank Kodachi-sensei for all his hard work on writing the story thus far. From now on, we will continue to produce the series based on drafts written by Masashi Kishimoto-sensei.

What does this mean for Boruto? Could this be good or bad news for the future of the book? We would love to hear what you think in the comments below!
