Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is set to speed into theaters on April 8th, 2022. A sequel to the 2020 film starring the blue speedster, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will feature the return of Ben Schwartz and Jim Carrey as the titular hedgehog and, his nemesis, Dr. Robotnik respectively.

The sequel will also be introducing Idris Elba as the voice of Knuckles the Echidna and Colleen O'Shaughnessey as Tails. While this will be Elba's first time playing the role, O'Shaughnessey has been the voice of Tails in the games on which the Sonic the Hedgehog movies are based since 2014.

The first official trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 2, which was released just yesterday, revealed our first look at the new, yellow and red speedsters. The two only featured minimally in the trailer, most of it was dedicated to, naturally, the character that the film is named after. However, thanks to the film's character design lead, we now have a new look at both of the fresh faces.

Tyson Hesse shared some character design concept artwork on social media following the trailer's debut which features Sonic and Tails in the forefront and Knuckles lurking ominously in the dark background. Check it out for yourself below:
