BERSERK Manga Creator Kentaro Miura Passes Away At 54 Due To Acute Aortic Dissection

The anime and manga community around the globe are shell-shocked as it has been revealed that legendary Berserk manga creator Kentaro Miura passed away two weeks ago due to acute aortic dissection.

Widely regarded as one of the most detailed manga artist of all-time, Berserk manga creator Kentaro Miura garnered fans and acclaim in Japan, North America and around the world. This same fandom is absolutely stunned right now to learn that Miura passed away on May 6 due to acute aortic dissection.

The official Berserk Twitter account revealed the news late last night and several other outlets confirmed the news.

Berserk is largely influential across a variety of mediums, particularly in video games. Without Miura astonishing creation, there would be no Dark Souls, Cloud wouldn't have his Buster sword, and games like Devil May Cry, Monster Hunter and Dragon's Dogma would be vastly different- if they would even exist at all.

Miura started Berserk in 1988 after in the  Young Animal seinen manga magazine (then called Monthly Animal House) after garnering acclaim for working on a manga project titled Orō with Buronson.  To date, Berserk has 40 volumes in circulation and over 50 million in sales across 15 countries.  Berserk has also received two TV anime adaptations (1997 and 2016) and three anime films that cover The Golden Age arc of the manga series.
