We have some fun news for fans of EVANGELION! The Japanese media was invited to attend the dress rehearsal of EVANGELION Beyond on May 5, one day before the debut of the stage play. EVANGELION Beyond is the first stage play inspired by the Evangelion anime franchise. You can witness how the world of Evangelion is replicated on stage, including how the pilots control the Eva, in the video reports that they have posted online!

As the opening performance of THEATER MILANO-Za in Tokyu Kabukicho Tower, EVANGELION Beyond, which tells an original new story with new characters, not featuring the ones from the original anime.
The story is set on an earth devastated by the pollution of the oceans and land due to unregulated development and conflicts, where people live together in settlements called "Dolufu." Soushi Watamori, a young man born and raised in Eade, one of the Dolufu, uses an Evangelion to excavate the depths of the earth to find new high-energy resources under the command of Masatsugu Sugo, the supreme commander of the special agency Mensch. However, a huge unidentified creature called "Ikimono" appears at the bottom of the earth. Watamori intercepts the creature with his Eva and manages to trap it underground, but half a year later, the creature reappears.

The role of the main character, Soushi Watamori, will be played by Masataka Kubota, who played Light Yagami in the Death Note television drama series and Ken Kaneki in the Tokyo Ghoul live-action film series. Other important cast members include Mizuki Itagaki, Shizuka Ishibashi, Testuji Tanaka, Takahito Nagata, Akane Sakanoue, Kanna Murata, and Kyoko Miyashita.
