That talented Nami Sano was only 36 years old, but reports from Japan have confirmed that the talented mangaka has passed away after a tough cancer battle.
Sano died on August 5 and funeral services for Sano were reportedly held on August 7 and 8. Her death was not publicly announced until August 16.
Sano's first series was the comedic, Haven't You Heard? I'm Sakamoto in 2011 before it concluded at 4 volumes in December 2015. Studio Deen produced an anime adaptation during the Spring 2016 anime season, consisting of 12 episodes.
Sano followed up 'Sakamoto' with Migi & Dali, which premiered in Enterbrain's Harta seinen magazine in 2017. Sano concluded the manga in 2021 after a 7 volume run. Studio Geek Tokys is producing an anime adaptation that is set to air this October, during the Fall 2023 anime season.
Sano's cancer wasn't discovered until just a month before her death.
The editorial staff at Harta revealed Sano's final words in the Tweet below. "This ended up being a fun life. I am now going to a more free world. Goodbye."
