Halloween is less than ten days away, and the monsters are itching to play. When it comes to horror, Japan has always had a knack for scaring its readers in ways that one wouldn't suspect. In fact, one of their most beloved creators, Junji Ito, has made a career out of it!
Another hit franchise has been Koji Matsumoto's Higanjima Vampire Island. Launched back in 2010, the franchise has spawned multiple manga spin-offs, live-action films, and anime. Now, it looks like the story is set to continue but not in a way that anyone would have expected.
Kare, Kishijima, is a new gag comedy spin-off by Matsumoto that looks to give a brand new perspective to the story but leans more to the comedic side. The book will highlight some of the original series' most famous scenes but from the eyes of humans.
This new series is sure to inject some new life into the franchise, and who knows, maybe this could start even more content for the franchise? We would love to hear your thoughts in the usual spot!
The story of the original manga follows a man named Akira, who is in the midst of the final battle between the human race and vampires. He only has 47 days until Japan is turned into an island of vampires.
Kare, Kishijima will publish on October 26th on Kodansha's Yanmaga Web and Comic Days sites!
