We have some last-minute news for fans of the music-centered series Nodame Cantabile before its official musical adaptation opens next week! Learn more about the Nodame Cantabile maga inspiration behind the stage play below:
The son of a famous pianist, music student Shinichi Chiaki dreams of studying abroad and becoming a conductor like his mentor. Unfortunately, his fear of flying grounds his lofty plans! As he watches other classmates achieve what he has always wanted, Shinichi wonders if he should quit music altogether. Then one day he meets fellow student Megumi Noda, also known as Nodame. This oddball girl cannot cook, clean, or even read a music score, but she can play the piano in incomparable Cantabile style. And she teaches Chiaki something that he has forgotten: to enjoy his music, no matter where he is.
An English edition of the Nodame Cantabile manga is also available from Kodansha USA. The original Nodame Cantabile manga was serialized in Kiss josei manga magazine from 2001 to 2010.
The musical Nodame Cantabile will be shown on November 3–4 at the Ueda City Cultural Arts Center and from October 3–29 at Tokyo's Theater Crea. Will you be attending any of the shows? Let us know in the comments down below!
