An announcement regarding a special project commemorating the 10th anniversary of the anime series Tamako Market, was made earlier this year! The series is produced by Kyoto Animation and is one of the studio's wholly-owned brands. Today, it was announced that the first project would be a screening of both the television series and the animated feature adaptation of Tamako Love Story in four different theaters all throughout Japan for a period of one week!

Sentai Filmworks, who the series and film are licensed through, describes Tamako Market below:

Tamako is just a normal young girl whose family has been making mochi for generations. As her birthday approaches, she happens to meet a talking bird who claims to be a royal court attendant looking for a bride for his master. After the encounter, Dera the bird decides to stay around her and becomes a part of Tamako's life and the neighborhood that she lives in.

Yukiko Horiguchi, the character designer for Tamako Market, created acelebratory art piece to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the company. Check it out below and let us know your thoughts about it in the comments!

The TV anime adaptation of Tamako Market premiered on January 10, 2013, and concluded on March 28, 2013. It was directed by Naoko Yamada at Kyoto Animation, who also oversaw the production of the highly praised Tamako Love Story anime film in 2014. Sentai Filmworks holds the licensing rights for the series as well as the feature in North America.

The first six episodes will be shown during the first screening of the week, which will take place on June 2 at Shinjuku Piccadilly, MOVIX Saitama, Namba Parks Cinema in Osaka, and Midland Square Cinema in Nagoya. After that, the remaining TV anime episodes will be shown the next day, and then Tamako Love Story will be shown the day after that. The same thing happens over and over again for the following three days, and on the fourth day, there is a showing of the movie.

Aya Suzaki, who plays Tamako, Takumi Yamazaki, who plays Dera, and Atsushi Tamaru, who plays Mochizo, will participate in a cast conversation following the showing of Tamako Love Story at Shinjuku Piccadilly on June 4. Tickets are available as of today through a lottery drawing system.

Let us know in the comments below if you will be attending any of the special 10th anniversary showings!
