It's no secret that being a successful manga artist can be a grueling occupation. Especially if you're the type of magaka who refuses assistants. Case in point, Daisuke Ashihara missed the deadline for a new chapter of World Trigger in the 28th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump today (Monday in Japan). The series will resume in the 29th issue of Weekly Shonen Jump which will be released on June 20. Back in 2014, Ashihara was diagnosed with cervical spondylosis, which affects the the neck area of the spinal column.
The World Trigger manga was first published in 2013 and has a total of 15 released volumes to date. An anime adaptation began airing in 2014 and ended on April 3, 2016 at 73 episdoes after adapting the first 13 volumes of the manga. Fans expect the show to resume/return once there's enough room between the anime and manga. However, if Ashihara's neck issues continue to be a problem and the manga is repreatedly delayed, the wait might be longer than anyone anticipated.
