The Anime Network will be the first independent cable network to make the leap from video-on-demand to a straight 24-hours-a-day, 7-days-a-week cable network. The unprecedented move, which was leaked in part two weeks ago (see "No Longer Just Video on Demand"), has been formalized and Insight Communications, the nation's ninth largest cable operator, will soon begin providing its customers with full time anime programming on its "Digital" tier in several markets. The exact locations that will receive the new cable network have not yet been revealed, but Insight Communications serves customers in the contiguous states of Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana, and Ohio.

Interestingly, one of the titles mentioned in the press release as being part of the new service, Peacemaker Kurogane, has not yet been formally announced by any American anime distributor (though ADV, parent company of the Anime Network, has announced the acquisition of the Peacemaker Kurogane manga).
