Four of hololive English's biggest names are rolling dice with one of the most famous tabletop groups in the world. COVER Corporation has announced Shattered Legends, a crossover actual play series between hololive production and Critical Role that will premiere in mid-November.
Nerissa Ravencroft, Mori Calliope, Shiori Novella, and Gigi Murin will all take part, playing alongside Critical Role's Marisha Ray with voice actor Matthew Mercer as their Game Master. The collaboration was revealed last week (October 13th), and it is the first time hololive and Critical Role have ever worked together.
The hololive Talents And Their Characters
The official announcement also revealed the characters each cast member will be playing:
- Nerissa Ravencroft as Siliun "Sil" Faell
- Mori Calliope as Kaz Oogod
- Shiori Novella as Marchen "March" Rosemyne
- Gigi Murin as Giryn
- Marisha Ray as Florence
The lineup pulls from three different hololive English generations. Mori Calliope debuted with hololive Myth back in 2020 and has gone on to build a major music career alongside her streams. Nerissa Ravencroft and Shiori Novella both arrived with hololive Advent in 2023, while Gigi Murin is part of hololive Justice, which debuted in 2024. That mix of veterans and newer faces should give the party plenty of different playstyles.
Nerissa appears to be at the center of the hololive side of the project, since her YouTube channel is one of the three official homes for the campaign. Members of her channel will also get exclusive behind-the-scenes content, which should make her membership a popular pick for fans who want more than the main episodes.
For Mercer, this will be a very different table than usual. He has spent more than a decade running games for his fellow voice actors, and he is best known to anime fans for roles like Levi in the English dub of Attack on Titan. Guiding a group of VTubers through a full campaign should make for a fun change of pace.
A Canon Daggerheart Adventure
Shattered Legends will use Daggerheart, the fantasy tabletop RPG from Critical Role's publishing arm Darrington Press. It uses a card system to bring characters' backgrounds and abilities to life, and a Hope and Fear mechanic that pushes the story in different directions as the game goes on.
Even more surprising, the campaign is officially canon to Exandria, the world where all of Critical Role's main campaigns and its animated series The Legend of Vox Machina and The Mighty Nein take place. That means the adventures of Sil, Kaz, March, and Giryn will become a permanent part of the setting.
How To Watch Shattered Legends
Every episode of the campaign will be free to watch on the hololive English YouTube channel, Nerissa Ravencroft's channel, and Critical Role's channel, with Japanese subtitles on all YouTube episodes. It will also be on Beacon, Critical Role's subscription streaming service, which will carry extra "cooldown" talks after each episode. An Episode 0 covering the cast's character creation and backstories is planned as well.
COVER also teased a promotional convention tour across North America, Europe, and Asia, plus exclusive merchandise, with more details to be announced later. The series is sponsored by Ultra PRO.
It caps off a huge year of collaborations for hololive, which is gearing up for its 10th anniversary in 2027. The agency is also bringing its hololive Meet booth to DreamHack Stockholm for the first time in late November.
Are you more excited to watch these hololive talents play a full tabletop campaign together, or to see how their story ends up fitting into the world of Exandria?
