Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War - The Calamity just hit the brakes two episodes from the end. The production committee said Saturday that episode 49 moves to Monday, October 19 at 24:00 in Japan, and episode 50 follows on Monday, October 26 at the same time.
The stated reason is quality. Official language is that staff are improving the episodes as the story heads into its climax, so the last two chapters land in better shape.
VIZ Media posted the U.S. math the same day. English-subbed episode 49 hits Hulu on October 19 at 8:30 a.m. PT. Episode 50 hits October 26 at 8:30 a.m. PT. The English and Latin American Spanish dubs slip further, to November 23 and November 30 at that same morning slot.
In Japan, TV Tokyo carries the new Monday midnight slots. BS TV Tokyo follows a day later. Other regional stations will post their own times when they lock them. Streaming platforms in Japan start episode 49 at noon on October 20.
The gap is not dead air. TV Tokyo is filling the weeks with a Climax Selection of older Thousand-Year Blood War episodes:
- Saturday, September 19 at 11:15 p.m.: Episode 7, "Born in the Dark"
- Saturday, September 26 at 11:00 p.m.: Episode 28, "Kill the King"
- Monday, October 5 at 24:00: Episode 46, "The End"
- Monday, October 12 at 24:00: Episode 48, "The End Two World"
Episode 48 already aired September 12. That is the chapter that put Ichigo Kurosaki and Sosuke Aizen in the same fight against Yhwach. The delay sits right after that pairing.
The Calamity is the fourth and final cour of the Thousand-Year Blood War anime. It premiered July 25, 2026 on TV Tokyo at 11:00 p.m. JST. The arc adapts the last stretch of Tite Kubo's manga, volumes 55 through 74, through the end of the original run. Studio Pierrot is on the series. Chief series director Tomohisa Taguchi and series director Hikaru Murata have been the public faces of this adaptation since the first cour.
The first cour opened in October 2022 and closed that December with a one-hour special combining episodes 12 and 13. The Separation followed in July 2023. The Conflict arrived in October 2024 and also ended on a one-hour finale. Each block took a break before the next one. The Calamity was sold as the last of those blocks.
A theatrical warm-up ran in the U.S. before this cour. VIZ and Fathom Entertainment screened the first three Calamity episodes in 943 theaters from June 25 to 29, in Japanese with English subs and in the English dub. That package included a behind-the-scenes talk with Kubo, Taguchi, and Murata.
Themes for this cour are locked. jo0ji performs the opening "I-BULL." 9Lana performs the ending "Rasen." International streams sit on Hulu in the U.S., Disney+ in many other territories, and Ani-One Asia across a large part of the region.
Quality holds are not new for fans of Bleach. The first three cours already treated big episodes as event television, including those hour-long closers. Pushing 49 and 50 by roughly a month is the production committee saying the last sword swing needs more time in the building.
What you do not get in the announcement is a plot map. No official list of which manga chapters those two episodes cover. No claim that the cour is adding episodes beyond 50. Episode 50 is still framed as the end of The Calamity.
If you were watching week to week on Hulu, the next new subbed chapter is October 19. If you wait for the dub, you are looking at late November. If you are in Japan, you get four reruns first, then the two new episodes at midnight. The manga ending has been public since 2016. The anime's job now is the version of that ending Pierrot puts on screen. The committee just bought four extra weeks to do that and deliver a great experience for watchers.
