It's official! The popular Disney Twisted-Wonderland mobile video game is getting an anime adaptation. The news was confirmed via Disney+ Japan's official Twitter account, which revealed that an anime treatment for the game is in development.
Disney Twisted-Wonderland is currently only available to play in Japan. It was released in March of last year (2020) as part of a partnership between Disney and Anieplex. It enlisted Black Butler creator Yana Toboso to create the concept, story, and character designs.
Disney Twisted-Wonderland is a re-imaging of Disney's iconic slate of villains where the player is transported into a magical world and enrolls in a Disney-themed boarding school. Players decide which of the seven dormitories to take part in: Sleeping Beauty, Alice in Wonderland, Hercules, The Lion King, Snow White, Aladdin, and The Little Mermaid. The villains are all styled as ikeman and they are able to grant wishes... For a price. Each sends players on quests and the story is unlocked by participating in rythm-based battles.
No details yet as to when fans can expect to watch the new anime.
