TMS Entertainment announced a new video, visual, cast, and crew for the poker-themed High Card multimedia project on Wednesday. The opening theme tune "Trickster" by FIVE NEW OLD is revealed and previewed in the video.
The series will be published by TMS, author Homura Kawamoto, and his younger brother Hikaru Muno are credited with the original work, and Ebimo is credited as the original character designer.
New staff members include Naoki Kuroyanagi over series composition, Nozomi Kawano and Haruna Nagata as chief animation supervisors, Rie Itō will serve as the editor, sound effects by Hiromune Kurahashi and music by Ryō Takahashi. The anime will premiere in 2023.
The newly announced cast includes: Kazuhiro Yamaji, Daisuke Ono, Gen Sato. Previously announced cast members include the following: Toshiki Masuda, Shun Horie, Haruka Shiraishi, Yuichiro Umehara.
The story's publisher Kadokawa describes the series as:
Finn, who was living freely on the streets, learned that his orphanage was about to close due to major financial strain. He headed out for a casino with the hope of winning big. Finn, however, could not have anticipated the nightmare that awaited him. When Finn got there, a man's "lucky" card led to a car chase and bloody gunfight.
Finn will soon discover the purpose of the shootout. A deck of 52 X-Playing cards with the capacity to provide holders various superhuman abilities and powers can control the world order. With the help of these cards, individuals can access the inner "buddy's" hidden power.
The monarch of Fourland has given a secret group of players known as High Card direct orders to gather the cards that have been dispersed throughout the country while working part-time for luxury vehicle manufacturer, Pinochle. Finn quickly joins the players on a perilous expedition to find these cards after being chosen to be the group's fifth member.

The Klondikes, a notorious Mafia family, and Who's Who, a rival vehicle manufacturer who are hell-bent on destroying Pinochle, stand in the path of the gang.

The poker-themed project is being released by publisher Kadokawa, TMS Entertainment, and Sammy Corporation. The projects' inclusion of novels, manga, and anime has previously been disclosed by the companies.
