Good news for anyone stuck on the Black Whale. Yoshihiro Togashi has confirmed that the manuscript for Hunter x Hunter chapter 430 is complete, which means another full batch of 10 chapters is now finished and waiting for a spot in Weekly Shonen Jump.

Togashi shared the update on his personal X account with a short, simple message that fans have learned to watch for: "No.430, manuscript complete."

Chapters 421 to 430 Are Done

The last stretch of Hunter x Hunter to run in Japan was chapters 411 through 420, which returned in Weekly Shonen Jump after a break of about a year and a half and ran for 10 straight issues before going on hiatus again. Togashi has been posting his progress on the following chapters ever since, from character inking to background specification sheets to finished manuscripts.

Chapter 430 has been a long time coming. Togashi first reported finishing the character inking for it months ago, then completed its background specification sheet later in the summer. The last few chapters before it have followed in quick succession, with chapter 429's manuscript wrapping up only a couple of weeks earlier. With 430 now in the can, the full 421 to 430 block appears to be complete.

That matters because of how the series has worked in recent years. Rather than running on a strict weekly schedule, Shueisha has been publishing Hunter x Hunter in 10-chapter runs once Togashi has a batch ready. The 411 to 420 run followed that same approach, so a completed set of 10 is the strongest sign yet that the next return could be getting closer.

No Release Date Yet

It is important to keep expectations in check. A finished manuscript is not a publication announcement, and Togashi himself has previously asked fans to wait for the Weekly Shonen Jump editorial department to share when new chapters will run. As of now, Shueisha has not announced when chapter 421 will appear.

There is also Togashi's health to consider. Earlier this month, he shared that a buildup of physical and mental health issues had led him to make a big decision about his workload.

"Due to a buildup of physical and mental health issues, after finishing the requests I currently have, I have decided to decline all future work requests with deadlines and prioritize creating my own manuscripts."

He added that he would announce it on X once manuscript work resumed, and the fact that chapters 429 and 430 have both been finished since that message is an encouraging sign. Togashi has spoken openly for years about the chronic back pain that limits how long he can sit and draw, and fans have generally been happy to wait as long as he is taking care of himself.

Where the Story Stands

The current arc follows the Succession War aboard the Black Whale, where the princes of the Kakin Empire fight to the death for the throne while the Phantom Troupe hunts Hisoka and Kurapika tries to protect Prince Woble. It is one of the densest arcs in manga, packed with Nen abilities, guardian spirits and overlapping schemes, and the 411 to 420 batch pushed several of those threads forward.

English readers can catch up on the latest chapters through VIZ Media's Shonen Jump service and Manga Plus, which simulpublish new Hunter x Hunter chapters alongside Japan when the series is running.

If you need another Weekly Shonen Jump fix while you wait, we recently looked at who Dai is in My Hero Academia, the kid who becomes Deku's successor in the final chapter.

How soon do you think Hunter x Hunter will return now that chapters 421 to 430 are finished?
