I Got a Cheat Skill in Another World and Became Unrivaled in the Real World, Too is coming back for a second season in January 2027. Kadokawa revealed the first promotional video and first key visual for the new season on October 15, along with two new cast members, the full returning cast, and the staff behind it. Ikumi Hasegawa and Sora Amamiya are joining the series as two new heroines, and the season will air on TOKYO MX, BS11, and other channels in Japan.
The first teaser also gives fans their first chance to hear both of the new characters speak. Check it out below:
The new key visual brings together the heroines who look up to Yuya in both the other world and the real world, with new character Iris Knowblade front and center. When the second season was first announced this spring, its teaser visual showed Yuya and Iris standing back to back, with Iris turned away from the viewer. The new art finally gives fans a full look at her.
A Sword Saint Enters The Story
According to the official story introduction, the second season picks up after Yuya has welcomed the legendary Creation Dragon Ouma and Kuro, the incarnation of Evil hiding inside Yuti, into his circle and defeated the Fist Saint. Yuya now spends his days training so he can master the Evil power he recently gained, while the forces of Evil grow stronger behind the scenes. Over in the Kingdom of Regal in the other world, a royal exhibition match has been set up between Yuya and the Sword Saint, the strongest of all the Saints.
That Sword Saint is Iris Knowblade, played by Ikumi Hasegawa, who fans will know as Ikuyo Kita in Bocchi the Rock! Iris is the strongest sword princess and holds the title of Sword Saint. She was so focused on the path of the sword that she let her chances at marriage pass her by, and while searching for a destined man who is stronger than she is, she falls for Yuya at first sight during their exhibition match. In a comment shared with the announcement, Hasegawa said, "For the second season, I'm really happy that I get to jump into the world of Iseleve too! Iris, who I play, is a strong, dignified, and cool girl, but... Please look forward to seeing what kind of relationship she builds with Yuya!"
Sora Amamiya, the voice of Aqua in KonoSuba, plays Mai Kagurazaka. Like Yuya and Kaori, Mai comes from the real world. She was serving as a shrine maiden at a shrine when she was summoned to the other world as a Holy Maiden, and she has a special power that can purify Evil. Amamiya described her as a mysterious beauty dressed as a shrine maiden, adding, "She's a mysterious character, but she's prickly while also being caring, and you'll catch glimpses of how easily embarrassed and innocent she can be, so please look forward to seeing how Mai gets involved in the story!"

From Web Novel To Anime
The first season premiered in April 2023 and ran for 13 episodes. Crunchyroll streamed the show as it aired and also released an English dub. The franchise followed that up with a brand new TV special, which streamed early on select services on March 29, 2026, before airing on TV on March 30. Streaming plans for the second season outside of Japan have not been announced yet.
The series began when author Miku started posting it as a web novel on the Kakuyomu website in March 2017. Fujimi Shobo picked it up for Kadokawa's Fujimi Fantasia Bunko label in December 2018, with illustrations by Rein Kuwashima, and the light novels have now reached 21 volumes in Japan. A manga adaptation by Kazuomi Minatogawa launched in December 2019 and is up to seven volumes. Yen Press publishes both the light novels and the manga in English, with the first volume of each released in May 2022, and it describes the story like this:
A door to another world stretches out before a boy who's been brutally bullied all his life. This alternate reality grants him access to all sorts of things, like cheat skills and a portal that lets him travel between his old and new worlds! Can this class loser turn his life around back home...?
The book franchise has 4 million copies in circulation, including spinoffs. It also has a browser game, an MMORPG on the G123 platform that launched worldwide in July 2024 in Japanese, English, Traditional Chinese, and Korean. The game is free to play with optional in-game purchases.
Iseleve Heads To Machi Asobi
Fans in Japan will get another look at the new season very soon. The anime is holding a special stage at Machi Asobi vol.31 in Tokushima on October 18 at 2:00 p.m., at the Shinmachibashi Higashi Park stage, featuring Matsuoka, Maeda, and the newly added Hasegawa. TMS Entertainment is also running a booth on the 5th floor of the Amico Building in front of Tokushima Station on October 17 and 18, where it will show reproduction key art, scene stills, and standees and setting materials for the new characters, along with event-exclusive postcards.
Are you more excited to see Iris take on Yuya in the Sword Saint match, or is Mai's arrival from the real world the bigger hook for you this season?
