Coming right on the heals of Kaiju No. 8 releasing Reno as a character, the series just released another new character!
Third Division kaiju-slaying prodigy Kikoru Shinomiya is the next member of the Kaiju No. 8 TV anime crew to acquire a character visual over on the series’ official Twitter account. Shinomiya joins the trio of the protagonist Kafka Hibino and Mina Ashiro shortly after the twin-tailed girl gets saved by the protagonist’s mighty-morphing skills.

The original Kaiju No. 8 manga is serialized in Shueisha’s Shōnen Jump+ digital manga magazine, and an English language version is also available from VIZ Media, who describe the story of the first volume as follows:
Kafka hopes to one day keep his pact with his childhood friend Mina to join the Japan Defense Force and fight by her side. But while she’s out neutralizing kaiju as Third Division captain, Kafka is stuck cleaning up the aftermath of her battles. When a sudden rule change makes Kafka eligible for the Defense Force, he decides to try out for the squad once more. There’s just one problem—he’s made the Defense Force’s neutralization list under the code name Kaiju No. 8.
The animation production for Kaiju No. 8 is handled by Production I.G., while Studio Khara is responsible for the creation of monster designs and artworks. Not all of the information regarding the series, including the primary cast members and other significant personnel, has been disclosed as of yet. The eighth installment of Kaiju will be aired in Japan in 2024.
