Powerhouse Animation Studios' recently closed the door on its Castlevania adaptation today with the release of its fourth and final season. However, Netflix has revealed the first look at the studios' next anime adaptation, a revival of the old He-Man and the Masters of the Universe cartoon.
Thanks to these first images, we can see that the series visually looks quite similar to Castlevania, which was an international production in which Powerhouse outsourced some of the work to animation studios in Korea, France and other countries. It will continue Netflix's streak of anime-influenced animation which includes Voltron: Legendary Defender, the aforementioned Castlevania, Seis Manos and Blood of Zeus. The series is set to be a direct continuation of the '80s series from the old '80s seres from Filmation and Mattel.
Titled Masters of the Universe: Revelation, the series will be split into two parts, with the first five episodes set to debut on July 23. "Everything I've ever worked on in like 27 years, this is easily in the top five of my favorite, most satisfying projects," says Smith to EW.
