The Kabukicho Tower in Tokyo will host performances of the play between May 6 and May 28. The play will mark the opening of the stage at the building's brand-new Theater Milano-za, which is dedicated to performing arts. After that, performances of the play will take place at the Matsumoto Performing Arts Centre in Nagano from June 3 to 4, and at the Morinomiya Piloti Hall in Osaka from June 10 to 19 respectively. The play is being produced by the business conglomerate Tokyu, namely by its subsidiary Tokyu Recreation Co., Ltd. On April 28th, the campaign known as Evangelion Kabukicho Impact will get underway, which will include the play.
The structure was constructed on the location of the former Shinjuku Milano-za movie theater, which was known for showing the recompilation film Neon Genesis Evangelion: Death and Rebirth. In the subsequent film, Neon Genesis Evangelion: The End of Evangelion, famously featured footage of people in a theater as part of a sequence that had a pivotal role in the story.
The stage performance is being directed and choreographed by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, who is a stage actor and director from Belgium. The script is being written by Seiji Nozoe.
Shin Evangelion Gekij-ban, also known as Evangelion: Thrice Upon A Time, was the fourth and final film in the Rebuild of Evangelion tetralogy directed by Hideaki Anno. It was released in Japan on March 8, 2021, and it ranked number one in its opening weekend. At the Japanese box office, the movie grossed more than 10 billion yen, which is equivalent to nearly $74 million in American currency.
During the "last run" of the film, which began in June 2021, the new version of the film, Evangelion, was shown. The narrative of the movie has not been altered by the new version, despite the fact that it has "minimal adjustments" to some of the animation segments. In August of 2021, the movie was made available for the first time anywhere in the world via the Amazon Prime Video service.
On November 30, 2018, GKIDS presented the film "Evangelion: Thrice Upon A Time" (Shin Evangelion Gekij-ban:||) in a number of IMAX theaters across the United States. After that, the movie was shown in theaters across the United States on December 6, 8, and 11. The movie will eventually be made available to purchase on home video via GKIDS.
