One Piece has released the promo teaser for Episode 1100, hyping the highly anticipated fight between Luffy and Rob Lucci.
Last week's episode saw the action kick off in the Egghead Arc, as it was previously revealed that the World Government is out to eliminate Dr. Vegapunk, the scientist who accidentally discovered the hidden mysteries of the Void Century. As the Marines move on the Future Island laboratory, Luffy is set to for a showdown against a major rival from the past — Rob Lucci.
The "Massacre Weapon" has faced off against Monkey D. Luffy in a vicious battle at the tower of Enies Lobby. While Lucci proved to be a formidable foe — forcing Luffy to exert himself through raw physical power more than ever before — he was ultimately bested.
But he has since returned as part of the Egghead Arc as CP0's attack against Dr. Vegapunk wages on. Episode 1099 saw Lucci take out Atlas, which angered Luffy enough to the point where we're about to see a highly anticipated rematch.
"The Drums of Liberation echo throughout Egghead! Facing Luffy's freewheeling Gear Five, Lucci awakens the madness of a wild beast," the promo teases. "The clash between creation and destruction! The fateful confrontation sends the Future Island into a whirlpool of chaos!"
One Piece Episode 1100, "Powers on a Different Level! Luffy vs. Lucci!" will premiere on Sunday, April 7th in Japan and on Saturday, April 6th internationally. If you haven't been keeping up with the One Piece news lately, series creator Eiichiro Oda recently announced that the manga has gone on a temporary break. Following the death of Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama, Oda confirmed he was taking a break for health purposes, although he noted that it was nothing for fans to worry about. The manga appeared in the Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 17 on March 25th, but then went on a three-week break. It is scheduled to return with Issue 21 on April 22nd.
