Spice and Wolf: Merchant Meets the Wise Wolf has a season 2 teaser. The Dengeki Bunko Autumn Festival Online 2026 dropped it on Saturday, ahead of a 2027 broadcast. The clip points at the next town and at Eve Bolan. Romi Park is playing her again, the same role she had in the original anime.
The new adaptation's first season ran two cours, April through September 2024, on Crunchyroll with a dub. This is not a continuation of the 2008 series. It is Passione's retelling of Isuna Hasekura's novels, and season 2 is the stretch past the opening journey. The main destination is Lenos, the merchant town where the books stop being a cart romance and start being a deal with someone who already knows the price of everything. Check out the new clip below:
Eve is that someone. In the novels she is the sharp end of Lenos, a trader with her own books and no interest in playing the harvest goddess's traveling companion. Park voicing her in the remake is the bridge the teaser is selling. Viewers who only know the 2024 show get a new face. Viewers who watched the first anime get the voice they already associate with the character. The August 31 visual had the line for it: "New treachery quietly approaches the merchant and the wolf." Saturday's trailer is the face attached to that line.
Takeo Takahashi and Hijiri Sanpei stay on as supervising directors. Sanpei directed season 1. Nobuyoshi Nagayama (Smile Down the Runway) and Takahiro Majima direct season 2 at Passione. Koji Haneda and Satona Sugimoto (also listed as Rina Sugimoto in some staff sheets) design the characters. Kevin Penkin is back on the score, the same composer as season 1, with Made in Abyss and The Rising of the Shield Hero on the wider list. Art direction is Kazuhiro Inoue. Color design is Tomoko Koyama. Art setting is Morihito Ohara. Photography is Yuki Okada. Editing is Ayako Tan. No opening or ending was named with the teaser. No 2027 month either.
The premise Crunchyroll explains is this: Kraft Lawrence sells from a cart. He picks up Holo, the wisewolf who used to live in the wheat, and offers her a road north to a homeland she is no longer sure is there. Season 1 spent two cours on that bargain: coin, church, pagan leftover, the way a merchant talks when he is scared and the way a wolf talks when she is bored. Season 2's job is the next contract. Lenos is a river town with a fur trade and a woman who does not need a pagan mascot to make a profit.
Hasekura's series is the rare light novel that got a second full adaptation instead of a sequel slapped on the old drawings. The 2008 show, and its second season, covered a chunk of the journey and then stopped. The 2024 remake started over, with Passione's designs and Penkin's score, and held an audience long enough to get a 2027 date out of an August visual. The festival teaser is the first moving image of that date. Park is the casting note that makes it feel like the same story rather than a reboot that forgot who already played the dangerous merchant.
Crunchyroll still has season 1 and the original series. Season 2 does not have a day. It has a town, a wolf, a cart, and Eve.
