Culver City, in the state of California (June 28, 2022) Today, Crunchyroll made the announcement that it had purchased the global distribution and marketing rights from Kodansha for the upcoming theatrical release of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime the Movie: Scarlet Bond. This deal did not include Asia. The movie is scheduled to have its world premiere in Japan in November 2022, and it is scheduled to be distributed in all of the major global territories in the beginning of 2023.
Both the best-selling light novel That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, written by Fuze and illustrated by Mitz Vah, and the popular fantasy adventure anime series That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime served as inspiration for the film. Minami Satoru, a typical 37-year-old, dies at the beginning of the series and is reborn as a slime, which is about as unremarkable a creature as one could possibly imagine. At first, the situation is not looking very good. He’s blind, deaf, and weak. But by combining his two special abilities, "Predator" and "Great Sage," the newly renamed Rimuru Tempest will use his blobby powers to gain both friends and foes alike in a new world with a wide variety of inhabitants. Following the conclusion of the second season of the anime series is where the events of the stand-alone story take place. In the following months, additional specifics regarding the movie will be disclosed.
"The series continues to be a fan favorite with Crunchyroll audiences, and we're thrilled to continue the adventures with the theatrical release of the film early next year on the big screen," said Mitchel Berger, Crunchyroll's Senior Vice President of Global Commerce. In Raja, a small country located to the west of Tempest, there is a long-running plot revolving around a mysterious power referred to as "Queen." When a slime named Rimuru Tempest, who had evolved into a Demon Lord, meets Hiiro, a survivor of the Ogre race, an incredible adventure that is packed with new characters begins. The strength of ties between people will be put to the test.
