The The Irregular at Magic High School twitter account has released a teaser promo video and key visual/artwork as part of the franchise's 10th anniversary. They have also revealed the cast and crew for the upcoming "Reminiscence" arc of the popular sci-fi and magic mashup anime.
The Reminiscence Arc will take fans back three years, before Tatsuya and Miyuki enrolled in First High. Fans will get to learn how the two siblings became so close and what made Tatsuya the man that he is.
Kikuko Inoue (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood) has joined the cast as Tatsuya and Miyuki's mother Miya. Aya Endo (Fate/Grand Order Absolute Demonic Front: Babylonia) will voice Honami Sakurai, Miya's protective guardian.
Studio 8bit is returning to produce the anime, with Risako Yoshida directing, Munemasa Nakamoto writing, and Kana Ishida handling character design.
The Irregular at Magic High School anime is based upon the popular Japanese web novel series of the same name by Tsutomu Satō. The web series was published on Shōsetsuka ni Narō from October 2008 until March 2011. In 2011 Satō began releasing his work as a light novel. Each story arc received a manga adaptation in 2013 with various artists and publishers. The anime adaptation by Madhouse premiered in April of 2014.
The Irregular at Magic High School takes place in an alternate history where magic exists and is used alongside technology. It follows Tatsuya and Miyuki Shiba, siblings who enroll into First High match high school where Tatsuya is shunned for being inept and his sister Miyuki is an honor student.
