Bandai Namco Entertainment has revealed a new trailer for Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero that reveals a bunch of new fighters joining the already-stacked roster of playable characters.

The action-packed trailer confirms the addition of 10 new playable characters, highlighting the unique master-apprentice relationships which are key to the world of Dragon Ball. From four different versions of Gohan — Kid, Adult, Future, Future Super Saiyan — to Trunks (Sword and Super Saiyan), the character list includes:

  • Gohan (Kid)
  • Gohan (Adult)
  • Gohan (Future)
  • Gohan (Future), Super Saiyan
  • Trunks (Sword)
  • Trunks (Sword), Super Saiyan
  • Videl
  • Beerus
  • Whis
  • Master Roshi

Each of these powerful characters brings their own skills and abilities to the upcoming Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero fighting game, which serves as a long-awaited sequel to the Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi series.

DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO takes the legendary gameplay of the Budokai Tenkaichi series and raises it to whole new levels. DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO has an incredible number of playable characters, each with signature abilities, transformations and techniques. Unleash the fighting spirit within you and take the fight to arenas that crumble and react to your power as the battle rages on.

Developed by Spike Chunsoft, the developers behind the original Budokai Tenkaichi series, Dragon Ball Z: Sparking! Zero aims to bring the series forward to a new era. Coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, players can look forward to "new features, enhanced and proven fighting mechanics, lightning-paced combat, large destructible environments, and stunning visuals" — all made possible due to the power of Unreal Engine 5 and new-gen platforms.

Dragon Ball Z: Sparking! Zero features high-speed 3D battles that are true to the anime and video game series. Players will take on the roles of iconic characters from the franchise and unleash authentic combat moves like beam clashes, rush attacks and planet-razing ultimate.

"The game’s gravity-defying fights capture each DRAGON BALL character’s signature destructive powers and Ki abilities showcased in stunning detail with damage capable of destroying entire parts of the arena," Bandai Namco teases.

These ten new characters join a roster of 24 previously revealed fighters, including multiple versions of Goku and Vegeta.

Dragon Ball Z: Sparking! Zero, which references the original Japanese naming convention of the franchise, does not yet have a release date but should hopefully arrive sometime this year. The game will be playable exclusively on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
