Aniplex put Archer on camera for Fate/EXTRA Record. The character video ran Saturday during the Aniplex One Focus livestream, a few days after Saber's own clip. Junichi Suwabe is back on the voice.
Archer is one of the Servants the protagonist can contract. He is a warrior who uses a lot of different weapons, leans on ranged and thrown attacks, talks with a sarcastic edge, and still follows orders without wasting the clock. That is the Extraverse Archer players already know from the 2010 PSP original, Fate/EXTRA CCC, the Extella games, and Shaft's Fate/EXTRA Last Encore. The new video is the remake introducing him in the updated models, not a new identity drop.
Fate/EXTRA Record is the full remake of Marvelous and Type-Moon's PSP RPG. Type-Moon studio BB announced it in July 2020 for the original's tenth anniversary. Meteorise is on development with Type-Moon. Arco Wada is back as character designer. The pitch is a thicker scenario, new character art, and a sharper version of the deck-building command card battles that made Extra feel different from the rest of Fate.
The game launches worldwide on January 28, 2027 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PC on Steam. Marvelous Europe is handling Europe and Australia. Aniplex took over as publisher after Bandai Namco Entertainment stepped away in March 2026 under a mutual agreement with Notes, Type-Moon's corporate name. Development kept going. The structure changed.
The road here was messy. A 2025 window slipped. A spring 2026 window slipped. An indefinite delay landed with the publisher change. Director and planner Kazuya Nino, who produced the first Extra and had been studio BB's director, left for personal reasons and health and stepped off the project. The January date is the first firm global lock since that shuffle.
A Saber character video arrived September 9. Archer is the second named Servant clip in this pre-order stretch. A longer gameplay showcase went up earlier in September covering the Moon Cell, lunar sea exploration, and how the command card fights work. Pre-order commercials are already in Japanese.
Two premium stacks sit next to the standard edition. The physical Limited Edition adds a three-disc soundtrack, a SteelBook, and an artbook. Digital Deluxe adds an arranged BGM pack, a Servant and player outfit bundle, three extra outfit packs, a digital soundtrack, and a digital artbook.
The setting is still the Moon Cell Automaton, the digital Holy Grail War on the far side of Fate's usual timeline. Masters and Servants fight in a tournament inside a computer on the moon. Extra was the first Fate RPG. Record is that game rebuilt for current hardware and for people who never owned a PSP.
Suwabe has been this Archer for a long time across Fate titles. The new footage is there to show how Wada's designs and the updated combat read in motion: multi-weapon kit, mid-range pressure, the same dry delivery. No new Noble Phantasm name was attached to the announcement text. The video is a character card, not a full kit reveal.
Last Encore already adapted one Extraverse ending for television in 2018, with a three-episode Illustrias Geocentrism special after the ten-episode run. Extella and Extella Link took the same cast into action games. Fate/Samurai Remnant is a separate Type-Moon action RPG from Koei Tecmo and is not this remake. Record is the Moon Holy Grail War coming back as a turn-based RPG.
If you wanted Saber first, that trailer is already up. If Archer was the contract you planned in 2010, this is the first look at him in the Record build. January 28 is four months out. Platforms are set. The publisher is set. The next videos will have to show whether the command card fights feel like Extra with modern UI or like a different game wearing Extra's names.
