Nexon announced that it will be attending Anime Expo 2024 next month for the first time. The South Korean video game publisher will be showing off its tactical mobile role-playing game Blue Archive.
The studio will host a special panel recapping the game's service since its launch in 2021 and reveal details on the upcoming summer update. The panel will also include special insight from Blue Archive lead director Kim Yongha, Art Director Kim Guk-ki, and Composer Mitsukiyo.
The panel, titled "Welcome to Blue Archive, Sensei! Check out Blue Archive with the developers and CM together," will be held on Friday, July 5 at 10:30 a.m. to 11:50 a.m. PT in Panel Room 403AB.
In addition to the panel, Nexon will have a Blue Archive booth on the show floor with photo opportunities, mini-games, and more for fans to interact with.
“We’ve received so much love for Blue Archive: The Animation, and Anime Expo 2024 just made sense as the perfect place to say ‘thank you’ to the fans and debut the anticipated summer update,” said Blue Archive Lead Director Kim Yongha. “Blue Archive’s dedicated community has sculpted its world and we’re excited to finally give back that support in person.”
Blue Archive is a free-to-play tactical role-playing game for Android and iOS. Players take on the role of a Sensei appointed as an advisor to the Federal Instigation Club, Schale, located in Kivotos. The academic city-state is home to numerous academies and, unfortunately, endless incidents that the player is tasked to resolve.
Players mobilize and form units of up to six members to participate in various military campaigns with. Students' strengths can be upgraded by increasing their levels, or through various weapons, armors, and skills. New student characters can be unlocked through a gacha system using in-game currency.
The game's story is divided into multiple Volumes, each focusing on a specific group in their respective school. Each Volume is also divided into chapters. There are five story volumes, the first four of which lead up to the story's first climactic volume.
An anime television series adaptation of Blue Archive was announced in 2023 and premiered in April of this year. The first season adapts the "Countermeasures Committee/Foreclosure Task Force" arc. It's produced by Yostar Pictures and CANDYBOX and directed by Daigo Yamagishi with Hiroshi Onogi and Yamagishi overseeing series scripts. The cast from the video game reprise their roles in the anime as well.
Nexon's Blue Archive won't be the only video game presence at Anime Expo 2024. Bandai Namco jus announced that it will be hosting a Summer Showcase panel featuring announcements, reveals, and first looks at highly anticipated anime games, including Dragon Ball, Gundam, and Sword Art Online.
