The new "rebuilt" Ryu ga Gotoku Ishin! PlayStation 3/PlayStation 4 game, Like a Dragon: Ishin! (Ryu ga Gotoku Ishin! Kiwami), debuted a trailer on Monday. The game's narrative is teased in the "Blade of Vengeance" trailer. The game ships to players for PS5/4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC on February 21 with early access on February 17. Be sure to set a reminder so you don't miss out!
Ishin is a historical action-adventure thriller that is specifically set in 1860s Kyo, a made-up counterpart of Kyoto. Ishin allows you to experience the history of how the renowned samurai age ended, in contrast to other games that focus on earlier periods in Japanese history. The overthrow of the shogunate and the beginning of radical reform in Japan are widely attributed to our hero, Sakamoto Ryoma, a real historical character.
Ishin enlists well-known characters to narrate this grand historical tale. Fans of the franchise will recognize our lead character as Kazuma Kiryu from previous installments. Kiryu, who plays Sakamoto Ryoma in Ishin, also takes the rest of his crew with him. In this imaginary world where the tumultuous bustle of 1860s Kyo replaces the glitzy streets of Tokyo, Goro Majima and other Yakuza celebrities join Ryoma as friends and adversaries. With a succession of mind-blowing turns and turns, these new character dynamics are as thrilling as they are unexpected, telling a tale that only RGG studio can tell.

On February 21, the game will be made available through Steam for the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows, and PC (February 22 in Asia). The earlier iteration of the game, Ryu ga Gotoku Ishin!, has never been made available in the West. The new version, which was created by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, will be the first to use the Unreal Engine 4.
Beginning on February 17, users of the game's digital deluxe edition will have early access. The edition will include three extra weapons in addition to weapon upgrade expansions for numerous different characters.
Sony describes the story:
In 1860s Kyo, a solemn samurai's fight for justice stands to change the course of Japan's history forever. Draw your blade and join the revolution in this heated historical adventure.
According to David Hinds, global community manager for Sega of America, "Kyo" is a made-up version of Kyoto.
A new "famous Dragon" from the game, Sakamoto Ryma, a real-life historical figure (who looks like Kazuma Kiryu). Sakamoto played a key role in the Tokugawa shogunate's collapse, which paved the way for Japan's Meiji Restoration. In the game, Yakuza franchise characters are represented by actual historical figures.
