The Eminence in Shadow: Phantom Echoes is the first console game in the series. Aiming producer Masahiko Takeuchi and director Toshiki Otsu posted the details on PlayStation Blog Japan after State of Play Japan. The Japanese post dates it for PlayStation 5 in 2027. Other listings add Nintendo Switch 2 and PC on Steam and the Epic Games Store. NIS America has the West. Clouded Leopard Entertainment has Asia.
The pitch for the game is 3D action with roguelite upgrades that change every run. You play the cast, slam through packs, and stack modifiers until the build matches how you actually fight. Wider skill range. Health back on kills. Big risk options that pay if you can live through them. Each character has a flashy special that clears a room when the screen fills up. You can tune that special too. Faster charge. Slower charge for a heavier hit.
The trailer already puts Alpha on a sword string and flashes Awakening plus an ability-pick screen. The blog is clearer about who the game is for. Shadow Garden's Seven Shadows are the focus. Takeuchi said the home-console idea started three years ago, when the anime was on air, and that they packed the game to sit next to the release of the 2027 theatrical film. Otsu wants players to see the seven of them as "those who lurk in the shadows and hunt the shadows."
The story is original and tied to the main plot. Daisuke Aizawa, who wrote the light novels, is supervising it. The hook they printed is ugly on purpose. Delta, fourth seat of the Seven Shadows, is crucified and covered in blood. The person who hurt her looks like Shadow, the leader of Shadow Garden. The post leaves that as a question mark and calls Phantom Echoes a new slice of the Eminence world you play instead of watch.
That is the series joke turning into a campaign problem. In the books and the Nexus anime, Cid Kagenou wants to be the guy in the dark, not the hero. He founds Shadow Garden, invents the Cult of Diabolos as a bit, and then finds out the cult is real. The Seven Shadows treat him like a myth. He treats them like extras in his role-play. A game that puts you in their boots, then shows Delta on a cross and Shadow in the frame, is using that misunderstanding as the plot, not a gag bumper.
Aiming already shipped The Eminence in Shadow: Master of Garden on phones and PC in November 2022. That one is a 3D RPG. Phantom Echoes is the console swing: Team Caravan on development, according to the wider announcement, and a roguelite loop instead of a gacha roster grind. KADOKAWA is still the publisher of record on the novels.
The 2027 movie is a separate title. The Eminence in Shadow: Lost Echoes is the Nexus film, directed by Kazuya Nakanishi, picking up after season two with the Return to Earth arc. Season one ran October 2022 to February 2023. Season two ran that fall. Phantom Echoes is not an adaptation of the movie. Aiming is timing both for the same year so the game and the film feed the same audience.
State of Play Japan is where Sony parked the first trailer. No price. No exact month. No demo date. The post notes that what sells and price can change by region. For now the locked facts are 2027, PS5 in Japan, a Seven Shadows action game, Aizawa on the script, and a Delta scene that will be the screenshot people argue about until launch.
If you only know the iconic line of Cid yelling "I am Atomic," this is the other half of the org chart. Alpha, Beta, Delta, and the rest of the seven do the stylish work while the boss pretends he planned it. The roguelite layer is how Aiming keeps a run from being a costume parade. You leave a failed map with a different kit and try the same cultists again.
