Kodansha USA has announced that it has acquired the print license for fan-favorite manga series Blue Lock!
Written by Muneyuki Kaneshiro (As the Gods Will: The Second Series), and illustrated by Yusuke Nomura (Dolly Kill Kill), follows Japan's soccer team after their disastrous defeat at the 2018 World Cup. What is the team missing? An absolute ace striker who can guide them to the win!
The Football Association is hell-bent on creating a striker who hungers for goals and thirsts for victory. A player who can be the decisive instrument in turning around a losing match. They've gathered 300 of Japan's best and brightest young players to find their ace striker. Who will emerge to lead the team? Will they be able to out-muscle and out-ego everyone who stands in the way?
Blue Lock won the 45th Kodansha Manga Award (shonen) in 2021. It is currently available digitally in English and can be read across multiple platforms including comiXology, Kindle, Apple Books, Google Play, Nook, and more.
Kodansha will be releasing the English manga later this year. The first season of the Blue Lock anime will also debut later this year. It is being developed by Eight Bit Animation Studio, the same team responsible for That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime anime series.
