That's it folks! After 15 years, Bleach is finally over. And much to everyone's surprise, the big announcement teased to coincide with the release of the manga's final chapter was for a new live-action movie, NOT the continuation of the anime. Still, today's release of Chapter 686 of Bleach is a bittersweet experience for many longtime readers. The series never quite recaptured the earlier magic of the first arc but plot direction aside, Kubo's stellar art virtually demanded a strong following throughout the entire 15 year journey. Indeed many of Kubo's fellow shonen manga peers expressed as much in today's 38th issue. Check out a few of the well-wishes and congratulations below.
Kōhei Horikoshi; autho of
My Hero Academia: "I used to yell "Bankai!' as I opened my umbrella. Congratulations on completing Bleach!"
Eiichiro Oda; author of
One Piece: "Kubo-san must be very tired after serializing Bleach for 15 years. Rest well."
Daisuke Ashihara; author of
World Trigger: "Bleach is finished. After 15 years, Kubo-sensei must really be exhausted."
Shun Saeki; author of
Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma : "Kubo-sensei really worked hard serializing it! I'm really looking forward to his next project!"
Shūichi Asō; author of
The Disastrous Life of Saiki K: "After 15 years, Kubo-sensei must really be exhausted! I look forward to his next work!"
Hideaki Sorachi; author of
Gintama: "Jump has gotten lonelier. Kubo-sensei, please come back soon!"
Congratulations Kubo-sensei on 15 years, 75 volumes and 686 chapters of Bleach. Cant't wait to see what you do next!
