Here comes another live adaption of a popular anime series and it’s coming faster than you think. Mob Psycho 100 by manga artist is known as “ONE” will have a live-adaption drama series that will premiere in January of 2018 in Japan. The drama series will be produced by TV Tokyo collaborating with Netflix and will air on Fridays at 1 am to 1:30 am.
This news comes after the flop of the Netflix live-adaption movie, Death Note, and concerns of a Your Name adaption in the works with Paramount/Bad Robot. However, this is a Japanese produced drama series instead of a single movie. Most Japanese live-adaptions have a better track record compared to their American counterparts with the new Japanese produced Tokyo Ghoul live-adaption scoring better than the American produced, Ghost in the Shell.
ONE is the creator of One Punch Man and Mob Psycho 100, which are fan favorites within the anime community for their animation, character designs, and jabs at popular shonen tropes. Mob Psycho was animated by Studio Bones (My Hero Academia, Space Dandy, Fullmetal Alchemist) while One Punch Man was animated by Madhouse (Death Note, Black Lagoon, Parasyte) and the second season will be animated by J.C. Staff (Honey & Clover, A Certain Scientific Railgun, Kill la Kill).
