A batch of hard-to-find anime is about to get a new home. It has been reported that streaming service OceanVeil has partnered with longtime licensor Media Blasters to add 19 anime to its catalog over the coming weeks, with a handful of them including English dubs.

OceanVeil announced the deal on Thursday (October 15th), and the first title arrives tomorrow (October 19th). Most of the lineup is made up of series and OVAs from the 2000s and early 2010s, many of which have been tricky to watch legally since the DVD era ended.

The Titles With Release Dates

Six of the 19 titles have dates so far:

  • Magical Witch Punie-chan, tomorrow (October 19th), sub and dub
  • CODE-E, on Wednesday (October 21st), sub
  • Eiken, next week (October 27th), sub and dub
  • Rio: Rainbow Gate!, on November 1st, sub
  • Gakuen Heaven, on November 5th, sub
  • Girl's High, on November 9th, sub

The Rest Of The Lineup

The other 13 titles do not have dates yet, but they are all part of the same deal:

  • Ai no Kusabi (sub and dub)
  • Amazing Nurse Nanako: Intensive Care Edition (sub and dub)
  • Osamu Tezuka's Phoenix (sub and dub)
  • Yosuga no Sora: In Solitude Where We Are Least Alone (sub)
  • Ladies versus Butlers! (sub)
  • World War Blue (sub)
  • Jungle de Ikou! (sub and dub)
  • Very Private Lesson (sub and dub)
  • Final Examination Kujira (sub)
  • HOLY KNIGHT (sub and dub)
  • I Don't Like You At All, Big Brother!! (sub)
  • Otoboku: Maidens Are Falling for Me! (sub)
  • Strawberry Panic! (sub)

The biggest name on the list for a lot of fans will be Phoenix, the adaptation of Osamu Tezuka's epic manga about the legendary bird and the people who chase its promise of eternal life across different eras. Getting it back on a streaming service, with a dub, is a nice win for anyone who has wanted to dig into Tezuka's work beyond Astro Boy.

Strawberry Panic! is another one that fans of yuri anime have been asking about for years, and Ai no Kusabi and Gakuen Heaven are well-known boys' love titles. Meanwhile, Magical Witch Punie-chan is a short, very silly magical girl parody that has built a small cult following.

What Is OceanVeil?

OceanVeil is still a fairly new name for a lot of anime fans. The platform was launched by Japanese company WWWave Corporation in March 2025, and it carries both mature and non-mature titles, which explains why a few of the incoming shows on this list are clearly aimed at adults.

Media Blasters, on the other hand, has been around for decades. The company built up a large anime library on DVD, along with live-action horror and action releases, and a lot of its older catalog has been sitting without a proper streaming home for a long time.

Agreements like this one matter a lot for anime preservation. Many 2000s series were only ever released on DVDs that are now out of print, which makes them expensive to buy and easy to forget. Putting them on a streaming service gives them a second life, even if the audience for some of them is fairly niche.

The dubs are worth pointing out too. English dubs for older OVAs are often the first thing to vanish when a licensor's discs go out of print, so having Punie-chan, Eiken, Phoenix, and several others arrive with both language options will make them a lot easier for new viewers to try. The staggered schedule also means OceanVeil will have something new to promote every few days through early November.

It is not yet clear which regions will get access to the new titles, so fans outside North America may want to keep an eye on OceanVeil's own listings as each one goes live.

Are you more excited to finally stream classics like Phoenix and Strawberry Panic!, or are you hoping OceanVeil focuses on newer simulcasts instead?
