Skateboarding is one of the oldest and most energetic extreme sports to have ever been introduced to the world. Those who have chosen to get into the sport learn fairly quickly that hte skill in nailing tricks is just as much an exercise of the mind as it is an exercise on the body. The culture around it as well tends to beckon outcasts and those who see the world differently than the average Joe.
Now, when it comes to sports, Japan has made it a profession to create fast-paced and exciting stories in both manga and anime that revolve around whatever the sport in question is. With the help of the studio BONES, skateboarding is about to get the anime treatment as well. The colorful new series is titled SK8 the Infinity.
This new anime was introduced fairly recently with a new promo; however, not much is known about it aside from its stunning visuals. Bringing a color and animation style similar to the K franchise, SK8 the Infinity introduces viewers to the world of skate battles and underground racing.
A brand new promo for the show was recently released that announced some of the new cast members for the new series; on top of that, a new commercial also started airing that gives fans double doses of brand new footage! The new show looks to be an original idea that is sure to get fans excited because, honestly, who doesn't love skateboarding?
The new show looks to be something that is not only new but also very promising. Make sure to check out the brand new promo for the series, and don't forget to tell us your thoughts in the comments below!
The anime centers on Reki, a second-year high school student who loves skateboarding, and gets caught up in "S," an underground and dangerous skateboard race at an abandoned mine with no rules. Langa, who has returned to Japan from Canada and has never skateboarded before, also gets wrapped up in S along with Reki. Dirty racers, AI racers, and other unique individuals compete in the "youth skateboard race battle."
SK8 the Infinity will release in Japan on January 9th!
