AMC Networks' anime streaming service HIDIVE has announced that 2.5 Dimensional Seduction will premiere this summer on July 5, 2024, but fans attending Anime Expo will get an early preview.
Based on the popular manga series by Yu Hashimoto, 2.5 Dimensional Seduction is a romantic comedy drama "about passionate teenagers and their endeavors overcoming both their worries and dilemmas to become the best cosplayers they can possibly be."
2.5 Dimensional Seduction is set to premiere this summer. It will broadcast in Japan for two consecutive cours beginning on July 5, 2024. It will be simulcast on HIDIVE as well. Fans who attend Anime Expo 2024 in Los Angeles, California next month can catch the first episode of 2.5 Dimensional Seduction on Thursday, July 4 in room 403AB on the Level 2 Concourse of the Los Angeles Convention Center.
The official series description, courtesy of HIDIVE, reads:
"I have no interest in real girls!" So claims Okumura, the president of the school's manga club. He's your typical otaku, obsessed with a sexy (fictional) 2D manga character known as Liliel. Then the new school year starts, and a (real!) 3D girl named Ririsa whose passion is cosplay joins the club. Ririsa convinces Okumura to become her photographer—and guess who her favorite manga character is? Not only that, but Ririsa is into modeling the fetishy stuff! The boundaries between 2D and 3D start to blur as this hot-blooded romantic comedy unfolds."
“We’re pleased to announce the addition of 2.5 Dimensional Seduction as the newest exclusive series to join HIDIVE’s simulcast line-up this summer,” said John Ledford, President of HIDIVE. “Cosplay is synonymous with anime and fans will now have a chance to celebrate it with this sure-to-please new romcom drama!”
Below is one of the trailers for 2.5 Dimensional Seduction which features the opening theme song, "Shutter Chance" ("Photo Opportunity") by Meychan. The ending theme song, entitled “Watch Me”, is performed in-character by Lilysa (voiced by Kaori Maeda) and Mikari (voiced by Akari Kito).
The 2.5 Dimensional Seduction manga is serialized in Shueisha's Shonen Jump+ digital manga magazine, with an English language version available from Seven Seas Entertainment.
The upcoming anime series is adapted from the currently 19-volume-long manga. It's directed by Hideki Okamoto with writing by Takao Yoshioka and production by J.C.Staff.
On a related note, Anime Expo will also host the "Netflix presents TERMINATOR ZERO" panel which will feature never before-seen footage from the upcoming anime, Terminator Zero, which premieres this August 29 on Netflix.
