Last month, Netflix debuted the first official promo images for its Terminator anime series, titled Terminator Zero. The images were our first glimpse at the new series, which will take the sci-fi franchise to Tokyo, Japan and introduce all-new characters as we shift away from Sarah and John Connor.
With the series set to debut in August, Anime Expo has announced that fans will be treated to our first look at Terminator Zero footage during the convention next month.
The official Anime Expo social channels and website confirmed that a special Terminator Zero panel will take place on Friday, July 5th at 4:45 p.m.

Produced for Netflix by animation studio Production I.G and Skydance Television, Terminator Zero takes us to Tokyo, Japan in 1997, on the cusp of Judgment Day. Similar to the movie franchise, a soldier is sent back in time to change the fate of humanity -- only this time she's sent to protect a scientist named Malcolm Lee who works to launch a new AI system designed to compete with Skynet’s impending attack on humanity. Naturally, Lee is being hunted by a deadly machine assassin disguised as a human.
The official synopsis reads:
2022: A future war has raged for decades between the few human survivors and an endless army of machines. 1997: The AI known as Skynet gained self-awareness and began its war against humanity.
Caught between the future and this past is a soldier sent back in time to change the fate of humanity. She arrives in 1997 to protect a scientist named Malcolm Lee who works to launch a new AI system designed to compete with Skynet’s impending attack on humanity. As Malcolm navigates the moral complexities of his creation, he is hunted by an unrelenting assassin from the future which forever alters the fate of his three children
Terminator Zero is developed by Mattson Tomlin (Project Power and Little Fish) who also serves as showrunner, writer, and executive producer. Skydance's David Ellison, Dana Goldberg & Don Grange also serve as executive producers on the project. The series is produced by Production IG with Masashi Kudo as director.
Terminator Zero is set to debut on August 29, 2024, exclusively on Netflix.
