In its first week of release, the live-action Death Note film, stylized  Death Note Light up the NEW world, took the top spot, beating out the insanely popular your name., which previously held the honor for nine consecutive weeks.  Shinsuke Sato (live-action Gantz) directed the feature film adaptation which is a sequel set a number of years after the events depicted in author Tsugumi Ohba and illustrator Takeshi Obata's manga.  The film is also a loose sequel to Death Note 2.
