Imagine being transported to another world, but instead of being a hero, you're put to hard labor as part of a workforce for an evil mining company... That's the premise of The Dungeon of the Black Company, which is set to land on Funimation beginning next month as part of their Summer 2021 anime season lineup.
The new series The Dungeon of the Black Company is an anime adaptation of the manga of the same name. Written by Yōhei Yasumura, the series follows Kinji, a guy who's a bit lazy in the real world. When he's transported to another world expecting a brighter purpose and future, he's forced into hard labor instead, working as part of an evil mining company.
The Dungeon of the Black Company is produced by SILVER LINK, the studio behind The Misfit of Demon King Academy and Wise Man's Grandchild. It is directed by Mirai Minato (BOFURI: I Don't Want to Get Hurt, so I'll Max Out My Defense). Voice actors for the series include Katsuyuki Konishi (JoJo's Bizzare Adventure), Misaki Kuno (The Seven Deadly Sins) and Hiro Shimono (My Hero Academia).
The Japanese manga series was first serialized in December 2016 through Mag Garden's Matg Comi website. It has since been collected into five volumes.
The Dungeon of the Black Company will be simulcast through Funimation's streaming service beginning next week, July 9th.
