Following the announcement of a second season, check out some new footage from Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid S ( Kobayashi-san Chi no Meidoragon) courtesy of the show's official Twitter account. Season 2 of the smash hit Winter 2017 anime was delayed after a deranged otaku set fire to one of the KyoAni studio buildings in 2019, killing 36 individuals (including the director of the first season, Yasuhiro Takemoto) and injuring 33 more- making it one of the deadliest massacres in Japan since the end of World War II.
The "S" in Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid S stands for "Super Supreme Second-Life Starts"
The 13-episode season one aired during the Winter 2017 anime season and adapted random chapters, making it difficult to see where the anime currently stands in relation to the original source material (though most would agree volumes 1-3 of the manga were covered).
To date, there have been 10 volumes of the ongoing manga released, which began serialization in Futabasha's Monthly Action Magazine in May 2013. Seven Seas Entertainment holds the North American license for the series and have released all 10 volumes. In addition to the main manga series, there's also 4 ongoing, spinoff series following supporting characters.
Miss Kobayashi is your average office worker who lives a boring life, alone in her small apartment–until she saves the life of a female dragon in distress. The dragon, named Tohru, has the ability to magically transform into an adorable human girl (albeit with horns and a long tail!), who will do anything to pay off her debt of gratitude, whether Miss Kobayashi likes it or not. With a very persistent and amorous dragon as a roommate, nothing comes easy, and Miss Kobayashi’s normal life is about to go off the deep end!
