When the uninitiated think of manga and anime, thoughts usually turn to action-filled shonen titles, and it makes sense. Those who don't tune into anime see popular titles like My Hero Academia, Attack on Titan, and Dragon Ball Super and often assume that they understand the blueprint and archetype that the medium offers.

The truth is, however, that there are several different types of manga and anime. Furthermore, as the number of manga readers and anime viewers grows, the medium also evolves.

A good example of an overlooked anime genre is the slice-of-life category that many titles fall into these days. Kakushigoto features comedy and hilarious hijinks without all of the episode-spanning fight scenes often seen in big-name titles.

Kakushigoto follows the adventures of a lewd manga creator and his struggles trying to hide the mature content he creates from his young daughter. The title not only explores a hilarious premise but also represents a plight shared by the mangakas with families who pen such titles.

Starting tomorrow, the theatrical edition of Kakushigoto will be available to stream exclusively on Funimation. So whether you're tuning in for the first time or a lover of the title, with all-new footage included, there is something for everyone. The official press release below breaks down the details.

Culver City, California (August 5, 2021) – Whether you've seen the series already or have yet to experience the wonder of Kakushigoto, the perfect time to watch is almost here! Funimation is excited to announce that the Kakushigoto Theatrical Edition is headed exclusively to Funimation to stream on August 6, 2021!

This special cut of the anime series recaps the events of the slice of life comedy where lewd manga artist Kakushi Goto tries to hide his profession from his adorable daughter, Hime. What ensues is a ton of hijinks and a lot of heart in this emotional adventure.

The Kakushigoto Theatrical Edition isn't just a recap; it also includes some all-new footage, which makes it the perfect re-watch for fans or those looking to experience it for the very first time.

Kakushigoto Theatrical Edition will stream on Funimation in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand. It will also stream in Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Peru later this month. An English dub of the film will arrive later as well.

What do you guys think? Will you be signing into Funimation tomorrow to check out this special edition of Kakushigoto?

Kakushi will do anything to make sure his daughter Hime doesn't find out that he's a mature manga artist.

Kakushigoto follows a lonely mangaka, Kakushi Goto, who draws vulgar manga. The twist? Well, he has to hide the fact that this is his work so that his young daughter, Hime, isn't exposed to its mature content. This slice-of-life comedy will explore the relationship between father and daughter, and the plight of an adult manga creator.

Kakushigoto begins streaming tomorrow, August 5th, only on Funimation.
