Toei Animation is celebrating One Piece's 22nd anniversary today with a brand new teaser trailer for next month's history making 1000th episode!

It shouldn't be news to One Piece anime fans that the 1000th episode is set to premiere next month! What may be news to some is that today is in fact One Piece's 22nd anniversary! Originally premiering on October 20, 1999, One Piece has become one of the most popular and beloved anime franchises in the world. In one month the Straw Hat crew will sail again on November 20, 2021 when it begins streaming through Funimation's official app and streaming service in the U.S. and Canada.

In anticipation of next month's release, and to celebrate One Piece's anniversary, Funimation and Toei Animation have released a brand new teaser trailer for Episode 1000. Make sure and check it out below!

The One Piece Japanese manga series, written and illustrated by Eiichiro Oda, originally appeared in Shueisha's shōnen manga magazine Weekly Shōnen Jump in 1997. The manga spanwed a media franchise, including the anime series of the same name produced by Toei Animation. The anime was originally broadcast in Japan in 1999. It has seen 14 animated feature films, an OVA, and thirteen television specials.

One Piece follows the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy, a boy whose body gained the properties of rubber after unintentionally eating a Devil Fruit. With his crew of pirates, named the Straw Hat Pirates, Luffy explores the Grand Line in search of the world's ultimate treasure known as "One Piece" in order to become the next King of the Pirates.

Produced by Toei Animation and based on the top-selling manga title of all time by creator Eiichiro Oda, the “One Piece” anime series spans more than 990 episodes to date since it first debuted on Japanese TV in October 1999. This iconic series features pirate Monkey D. Luffy and his Straw Hat crew on their epic quest to find One Piece, the legendary treasure of the former King of the Pirates, Gol D. Roger. One Piece’s global pop culture status is the crowning achievement for this anime franchise, which encompasses theatrical films, home videos, video games, and an ever-expanding catalog of licensed merchandise that includes accessories, toys, novelties, furniture, housewares, and apparel.
