The Blue Lock anime adaptation was announced earlier this month and today we have our first look thanks to a new character trailer from BANDAI NAMCO!
The new trailer, based upon the popular manga by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and Yūsuke Nomura, puts Yoichi Isagi front and center with the first character trailer for Japan's national soccer team Blue Lock.
The voice cast includes Kazuki Ura who will be playing Yoichi Isagi, as well as Tasuko Kaito as Meguru Bachira, Yuuki Ono as Rensuke Kunigami, and Soma Saito as Hyoma Chigiri.
Written by Muneyuki Kaneshiro (As the Gods Will: The Second Series), and illustrated by Yusuke Nomura (Dolly Kill Kill), follows Japan's soccer team after their disastrous defeat at the 2018 World Cup. What is the team missing? An absolute ace striker who can guide them to the win!
The Football Association is hell-bent on creating a striker who hungers for goals and thirsts for victory. A player who can be the decisive instrument in turning around a losing match. They've gathered 300 of Japan's best and brightest young players to find their ace striker. Who will emerge to lead the team? Will they be able to out-muscle and out-ego everyone who stands in the way?
The anime is being directed by Tetsuaki Watanabe at studio 8bit (That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime) and is slated for a 2022 release.
