SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 2: The Game Awards Host Geoff Keighley Teases The First Trailer Is Coming This Thursday

The Game Awards event, taking place this Thursday, will play host to the first official trailer for the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie. That's at least what seems to be the case based on this Twitter exchange.

The host of The Game Awards, Geoff Keighley, recently had a back and forth with the official Sonic the Hedgehog Twitter account wherein the latter account requested an invite to the event. Keighley promptly teased that "it's about to go down!"

Recently, a reputable leaker (according to Toonado) claimed that the first official trailer for the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 live-action/CGI video game movie sequel was complete. Given that, we can only assume that the first trailer is what's being teased between the Sonic the Hedgehog Twitter account and Keighley. You can check out their exchange for yourself below.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will reintroduce Jim Carrey and Ben Schwartz as Dr. Robotnik and the titular speedster respectively. What's more, the sequel will introduce Tails and Knuckles, that latter of which will be voiced by Idris Elba. According to the same leaker who claims that the trailer is fully edited, it will feature our first look at the red echidna himself.

The Game Awards is set to take place on Thursday, December 9th. We'll know soon enough if this is a wild goose chase or the trailer will be in our hands. Stay tuned!
