As was foretold yesterday, alongside the first poster for Sonic the Hedgehog 2, the first official trailer for the video game movie sequel dropped during The Game Awards.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 features Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik, Ben Schwartz as the titular speedster, and James Marsden as Tom Wachowski. Those three are reprising their roles from the first instalment, among others. However, the sequel will also introduce Idris Elba as Knuckles the Echidna and Colleen O'Shaughnessey as Miles "Tails" Prowler.
Dr. Robotnik returns to Earth in search for the source of ultimate power: the Master Emerald. It'll be up to Sonic and Tails to put a stop to his nefarious scheme; though Robotnik has accounted for their intervention and brought with him a match for their immense power in the form of Knuckles.
"The world’s favorite blue hedgehog is back for a next-level adventure in SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 2. After settling in Green Hills, Sonic is eager to prove he has what it takes to be a true hero. His test comes when Dr. Robotnik returns, this time with a new partner, Knuckles, in search for an emerald that has the power to destroy civilizations. Sonic teams up with his own sidekick, Tails, and together they embark on a globe-trotting journey to find the emerald before it falls into the wrong hands.
