Crunchyroll is putting Black Clover Season 2 on a theater screen before Japan starts the TV run. Anime Nights Sneak Peek lands Monday, September 21 in the United States and Canada. The same night also plays The Vermilion Mask, Overgeared, Firefly Wedding, and PSYREN. Japanese audio, English subtitles. Tickets are already on sale.
All five titles will hit Crunchyroll in October. The theater night is the early look. Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment have been running Anime Nights as a monthly circuit since 2025, mixing films with first-episode sneak peeks at AMC, Regal, Cinemark, Alamo Drafthouse, Harkins, Landmark, Cineplex, and the rest of the partner list. Earlier this summer the program used more than 280 rooms. August 17 was the Korean film Your Letter. September 21 is a five-show fall sampler.
Black Clover is the name that will be the biggest selling point for the ticket. The first TV series stopped in March 2021 on episode 170. Season 2 is dated for TV Tokyo in October, a little more than five years later. Ayataka Tanemura is directing. He handled the back half of the original run and the Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King film. Pierrot Films is animating. Series composition is Keiichiro Ochi. Character designs are Itsuko Takeda. Music is Minako Seki. Crunchyroll already said it will stream the season when it airs.
Yuki Tabata started the manga in Weekly Shonen Jump in February 2015, moved it to Jump Giga in December 2023, and finished serialization in May 2026. Thirty-seven volumes are out in Japan. Season 2 is the Spade Kingdom fight, the Dark Triad, and the stretch fans have been pointing at since the first show packed up. Asta still has no magic of his own. Yuno still has too much. The Wizard King job is still the line they shout at each other. The September 21 screening is not the whole cour. It is a first-episode look on a bigger screen than a phone.
The Vermilion Mask adapts the manga by Dr. Poro and Nabana Naba. TV premiere is October 2026, split into two parts. The story follows Peru, a student of mask maker Gaston Roux, after a warrior-god mask takes over and the people closest to him die. He leaves to hunt down the rest of Gaston's masks. Crunchyroll is streaming it. The theater slot is the first chance to see how the action reads in a dark room.
Overgeared comes from REDICE STUDIO's Korean webtoon. The TV anime starts October 2. Youngwoo Shin is a broke grind player who gets forced back to square one in the game that ate his life. The pitch is god-tier gear and a man who would rather craft than make friends. Crunchyroll picked it up in the same summer package as several other webtoon adaptations. Putting it next to Black Clover on September 21 is a bet that the game-world crowd will sit still for a Jump battle show.
Firefly Wedding is the Noitamina title. Oreko Tachibana's manga gets a TV anime from David Production on October 9, Friday at 11:30 p.m. on Fuji TV. Satoko looks like the perfect noble match and does not have long to live. An assassin named Shinpei walks into that plan. Noitamina has been the late-Friday slot for stranger romance and period pieces. A theater sneak peek is unusual for that block, which is why it is on this card.
PSYREN is Toshiaki Iwashiro's Jump manga, the one about a kid who finds a hidden site, joins a group, and drops into a ruined future where the game is lethal. The TV anime is dated for October. Crunchyroll already announced the stream. Age has been kind to that premise. Putting it in a multiplex next to Black Clover is a way to remind people the title exists before the weekly episodes start disappearing into the fall grid.
Anime Nights is doing the same job Fathom and the old midnight movie circuit used to do, only the inventory is next season's homepage row. You buy a ticket. You watch episodes that are not supposed to be out yet. You go home and wait for October. Crunchyroll gets a room full of people who will argue about the first cut of Asta's new season before the Japanese broadcast even starts.
The company has used the series for films and for stacked sneak peeks. Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid and an Overlord anniversary package were early entries. June 15 this year previewed Skeleton Knight in Another World Season 2, Clevatess Season 2, and Young Ladies Don't Play Fighting Games. The September show is heavier. A long-delayed shonen sequel plus four fresh adaptations is a lot of first episodes for one Monday night.
There is no public runtime card that says how many minutes each title gets. Expect pilots and opening episodes for the shows, not a full Black Clover movie. Expect the line outside to be the Black Clover line, with the other four shows catching whoever stays in the seat afterwards. Which is totally fine. The major selling point of the night is to put Season 2 in front of people who have been chomping at the bit and waiting for it.
October still has the real start dates for all the anime. TV Tokyo for Black Clover. October 2 for Overgeared. October 9 for Firefly Wedding. October windows for Vermilion Mask and PSYREN. Crunchyroll will be the one to have for watching all of them. September 21 is the theater date in the middle.
