Who are the 3 new cast members? Joining the cast will be a trio of new faces, seen above (from left to right):

  • Nanoka Hara as Mizuho Nanba, Minare's coworker at the radio station and eventual roommate.
  • Kazuki Kitamura as Kanetsugu Mato, Minare's boss at the station.
  • Ryota Katayose (Generations from Exiled Tribe) as Chuya Nakahara, a chef from the restaurant where Minare used to work.

The magna has been serialized in Kodansha's Monthly Afternoon since July 2014 and has released nine tankobon volumes in Japan. Its English edition's punlisher, Kodansha USA describes its synopsis as below:

Based on the Kodansha Comics manga from Hiroaki Samura, Wave, Listen to Me! tells the story of main character Minare Koda, who is decompressing one night while out drinking in the city. She ends up spilling her love life grievances to a worker from a local radio station, and is shocked when she is working the next day and finds that her rant has been publicized on air!

She quickly heads to the radio station to get to the bottom of the situation when she’s tricked into a live interview with the station’s director. But, what’s this? Her rant lands her a job at the station? Set in Hokkaido, Japan, this is where Wave, Listen to Me! takes off, as Minare dives ever deeper into the world of broadcast radio.

The series has previously announced Fuka Koshiba for the role of the protagonist of the series, Minare Koda. Minare commented on her character saying:

"Minare really makes a lot of mistakes. But when I see her making so many mistakes, I feel a little lighter and think, 'Oh, it's okay to make mistakes!' So, I hope that this role will lighten the hearts of those who see me and think, 'I don't have to think so hard about it,' no matter how clumsy you are or how many mistakes you make. I will do my best in the filming so that I can deliver both the powerful and the careless parts of Minare."

The manga-based anime series is set to premire April 21st on TV Asahi. We're excited to see it premiere!
