The official website and social media accounts for the upcoming anime series A Nobody's Way Up to an Exploration Hero (Mob kara Hajimaru Tansaku Eiyutan) have shared a key visual and trailer, both of which are included below.
They have also shared details about the main cast and staff.
The series is based on the light novels of the same name by Kaisho and Almic and follows the story of Kaito Takagi, an ordinary high school student who works part-time exploring the "dungeons" that have appeared all over Japan. Kaito has low stats and cannot even confront a goblin without having to flee for his life, so he spends his time hunting slimes. One day, he encounters an unusual "golden slime" that drops a rare item known as a "servant card" which allows Kaito to summon a Valkyrie, a powerful battle-maiden, and his luck as a low-level slime hunter begins to change.
The anime adaptation is being directed by Tomoki Kobayashi (known for Infinite Dendrogram and Akame ga Kill!) at studio Gekkou, with series composition by Kazuyuki Fudeyasu, character designs by Shoko Yasuda, and music by Keiji Inai.
The main cast includes Yuya Hozumi (known for voicing Keyaru in Redo of Healer) as Kaito Takagi and Kana Hanazawa (known for voicing Mitsuri in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba) as Sylphy.
The A Nobody's Way Up to an Exploration Hero anime is set to premiere later this year (2024).
About "A Nobody's Way Up to an Exploration Hero"
A Nobody's Way Up to an Exploration Hero is a light novel series written by Kaitō and illustrated by Arumikku. The series started as a web novel on the user-generated novel publishing website Shōsetsuka ni Narō on April 9, 2019.
Later, the series was acquired by Hobby Japan and began being released under their HJ Bunko imprint in July 2021. As of September 2023, seven volumes of the light novel have been published.
The story follows the protagonist, an unremarkable high school student in Japan who regularly hunts slimes in a dungeon. However, his life takes a significant turn when he defeats a gold slime and gains a rare summoning item, the Servant Card.
The light novel series has inspired a manga adaptation illustrated by Terio Teri, which started serialization in Akita Shoten's seinen manga magazine Dokodemo Young Champion on August 24, 2021.
An anime adaptation of the series is currently in production and is set to premiere in 2024. The anime is being produced by Gekkō, with Tomoki Kobayashi as the director, Kazuyuki Fudeyasu as the series composer, Shoko Yasuda designing the characters, and Keiji Inai composing the music.
