The July issue of Shueisha's Jump SQ. magazine revealed on Friday that the Qualidea Code television anime series will premiere on July 9 at midnight (effectively July 10 in the West). However, a special screening of the first episode will be shown a week before at TOHO Cinemas Shinjuku on July 2. Kenichi Kawamura (Rozen Maiden, SoniAni: Super Sonico the Animation) is directing the anime at A-1 Pictures. The original concept was developed by a trio of talented authors who form the supergroup 'speakeasy' - Sou Sagara (The "Hentai" Prince and the Stony Cat), Koushi Tachibana (Date A Live) and Wataru Watari (My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU).

The story takes place in an alternate world where people wage war against the mysterious "unknown"—the enemy of humanity. Several decades prior to the first attack by the "unknown", a group of children were evacuated and placed in cold sleep during the invasion. Upon awakening, they discover that their bodies developed some supernatural abilities. In order to protect Japan from the "unknown", who launch attacks from the Tokyo bay gate, the boys and girls wage battles in the defense of Tokyo, Kanagawa, and Chiba.
